Fun at first, but gets extremely repetitive.

User Rating: 5.1 | Top Gun: Fire at Will! PS
Top Gun: Fire at Will is a very basic combat flight sim game, loosely based on the movie. The controls are pretty decent, although it can take a while getting to the ground targets at times. Shooting down the first couple of planes in this game is fun. But there are a ton of missions, and most of them EACH have you shooting down 30 or so enemy planes. Even Maverick wasn't that damn good. Needless to say, that gets extremely boring after a while.

The graphics are so-so. The planes themselves look pretty good, the sky is decent, but the ground/water looks like crap. Then again, it is dated. The sounds are good, although hearing your co-pilot say the same thing a billion (and i'm not sure that's an exaggeration) times throughout the game can get old. The best part of the game is the cutscenes. They include the bald guy who played the commander in the movie, he's pretty good. There are a couple okay actors, and then there are a couple actors that totally don't fit their part, it's so bad that it's entertaining.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this game unless you're a real Top Gun or combat flight sim fan. Otherwise, you won't get much enjoyment out of it.
