Great game, just not enough events! (and unlockables)

User Rating: 8.2 | Torino 2006 - The Official Video Game of the XX Olympic Winter Games XBOX
I posted a short message in the XBOX forums, but I'll go in to detail here. I'm up here visting my brother in North Dakota, who has an XBOX, and who picked up Torino 2006 for 20 bucks. Took a few tries, but I picked up the game, and within a week, bested all his times/scores. Seems most people say this game is bad, but they don't look at the good points. Sure, it's not a great olympics game, and there hasn't been since the 80s, but for what it dos it does well. There's only 15 events total, which definately dissapointed me, and the challenges, which are pretty challenging, only offer you different uniforms for different countries. And not even half of the countries are available! I guess to sum up the bad points is not enough events, not enough countries, not enough unlockables, and not enough personal options.

On to the good points. This game is HIGHLY replayable for the small amount of events it does have. Take downhill for instance. You have 4 different races to choose from, regular downhill, super-G, super slalom, and slalom. It pretty much goes from easiest to hardest. On downhill you can hold down the A button the whole time and strategize on getting the best time (start off 100%, take the corners as close as you can). When you hit slalom though, you can't speed as fast or else you'll miss the many flags you have to pass through.

Speed skating is an alright event, where the start brings back the Konami button-bashing to gain speed, and then from there on you alternate A and B for your elft and right feet as you skate around the tracks (3 in all, 500m, 1000m, and 1500m).

Downhill jump is always a fun event. You choose from a normal-sized hill and a large hill. Basically, by watching the wind, you must steady your approach to the ramp, jump at the right time, and steady yourself in the air while landing at the right time.

Bobsleigh and luge are basically the same, with luge having an easier takeoff approach. On the ice, the run almost the same, with bobsleigh being of course faster, while luge you can move your feet on the corners to make sure you come out of it ok.

Cross country and Biathlon are the longest events where u just have to time your strength/endurance while you go through the course.

Nordic combined just the ski jumping and cross country and puts them together; you're distance on the jump determines how many second of penalty u get on the cross country.

Oh, and one last thing. The spectators are GREAT, despite what the GameSpot reviewer put. They obviously don't have humor to laugh your head off on some of the comments they make, like "Powerful stuff this is...wow", and the guy yelling "Yeah, yeah, YEAH!"

All in all, a good game that could have been made much better, but still worth the 20 bucks.
