It seems like the games main purpose is to make you laugh. And while it does, it's other elements feel a little flat.

While Edios has dropped out of the competitive game market, they still have a few tricks up there sleve. And out of that sleeve comes Total Overdose, a GTA, Max Payne hybrid, that is actually pretty good. The game definely has it's flaws, and while it is not perfect, you will more than likely enjoy yourself. The game takes place in Mexico, you play a undercover police officer, and you must infiltate a natorious gang before they do something rash. Now where have you heard that one before ... *cough Driv3r cough*. Even if the game is not entirely original, it borrows game play elements from other successful franchises and ends up becoming something quite different than anything else on the market.

The game unfortunely suffers from a few year old graphics engine, most of the textures are pretty average, and the character models are definely not something to look at. But it does have some nice touches, the game is pretty destructable, different pieces will come off if you shoot it, and the explosions can be pretty fun. Unfortunely the game falls short of today's best, and we are stuck with some pretty grim visuals.

Unlike the visuals, the games sound is top notch, everything thing from the corney, but hilarious dialogue, to the in-game mexican rap and rock. The sound really stands out as fun, great and hilarious.

Overall the game like some of the other GTA clones, is just as I said before, a clone. While some may agree, most should have a tough time denying that is exactly that. I would actually like to see another installment on the series on the next - gen consoles. A change to a more cartoonish looks would actually benefit the games atmosphere. If you are looking for some fun until the next GTA, give Total Overdose a shot, you might be suprised.
