Perfect!

User Rating: 10 | Total War: Shogun 2 PC
After being drowned in first person shooters for YEARS now and games with little thought, this was completely refreshing! I'd thought RTS style games were dead, with each installment of Command and Conquer getting more ridiculous as each release came. I loved the old Shogun but this is deep to the point of Star Trek: Birth of the Federation. I thought the audience for it was dead, as every game now is either (as I said) some small variation of FPS or all graphics with no immersion or thought put into it, but thankfully this cold glass of reality arrived.
I've not yet played each and every angle to it, including online or the scenarios, but with about 30 hours into a campaign with much trial and error learning, I am absolutely loving it. It's not JUST the battlefield where the fun is found (although it is loads of fun also, you really have to play strategically or risk being slaughtered.
The upgrades are numerous, including to generals, and special agents with various skill trees! Naval combat is also new, and if you want to be wealthy and advance your provinces, you've got to maintain a force on the sea.
Building upgrades are multiple, you can negotiate and politic with other clans. There's truly too much to list.
If you love strategy and games where you've actually got to think for a change, missing this is a big mistake!
