Tourist Trophy is a game that may initially give mixed feelings of whether it is actually a good game. The ability to jump into arcade mode gives you a good feel of the courses and bikes. Sorted in cc’s, they vary in weight, horse power and other obvious aspects. If you have played any type of racing game, specifically any Gran Turismo, the learning curve for this game is relatively quick. However, without the experience you may experience quite a bit of frustration learning how to break early enough, shift the weight of the bike and knowing when to accelerate out a turn. With that being said the games graphics will defiantly capture your attention. With what seems to be a million different camera angles for taking pictures, the replays give a great feel of the racing action. As you engage yourself in Tourist Trophy mode, you begin to realize how simple the game actually is. There is no money system, as in the Gran Turimo series, so getting your favorite bike could take you less than 3 hours to accomplish. Once you go through the 4 licenses you may begin racing one on one for all the bikes that you desire (some unlock with each license earned). The best part is you do not have to necessarily win the race, but stay in front of your opponent for 10 seconds. Once you have won the race the bike is yours. Though this is simple there are 120 bikes to collect and it is not always easy to pass your opponent. For the most part they are given head starts to begin the race. The courses are pretty much the same courses in Gran Turismo, so if you have played it you are in luck. If the tracks are new to you, it is better to make use of the practice mode to familiarize yourself with the turns of the course. I found it to be very helpfully to take a couple of practice laps before taking on my opponent. The bikes in the game as mentioned above are very detailed. Certain upgrades are limited, but I believe there is enough there, if you know what your doing, tweaking the bike could be very helpful. Also if you do not know a lot about bikes, it should not affect you negatively unless you lack understanding the faster the bike is, the earlier you have to brake. The rider himself has a range of custom ability, including the way parts of his body lean, to the colors of his outfit. Overall this game is more addictive than anything else. The graphics surely push it along, and as you take corners faster you begin to feel like a professional driver. Most of the difficulty lies in learning the tracks, but once learned you can beat almost any bike in the game on that track. This game is a lot of fun and I recommend it to anyone is the least bit interested in any type of racing.
