Track & Field will probably be the most competitive multi player game you'll find on Live Arcade.
OK enough of that nolstalga nonsense and let's see what Track & Field offers a player in 2010 on the Xbox 360. Firstly for those not inclinced to hang about arcades in the eighties you have a sporting title which for the most part is a game based on who can thrash or button mash the controller faster than the other. Only problem with this game is that it's darn addictive!
You can chose original 80's graphics or smoothed over modern look with better sprites chucked in. The new impoved look is actually worth using. You can play four players on the one Xbox 360 or play against some rivals online with Live. The Achievements add a new dimension to the game as you now have a set goal to strive for besides just winning the events. Personally I could never get my head around the high jump so some may find certain events more than simply challenging. You get three attempts to qualify on each event or it's game over.
I'd like to see Track & Field added to the MS Game Room as it'll be cool to do challenges against your mates in this one. But for now it's available as a standalone Arcade title on Xbox Live (and reduced priced as I type this). Is it worth downloading? Well if you have times when mates come to your house and you're looking for some cheap laughs to be had together on the 360 then you could do far worse than buying this. Personally T&F was always an arcade favourite. The cheesy 8-bit music and sound effects kill me! Track & Field will probably be the most competitive multi player game you'll find on Live Arcade. At least check out the demo!
