Finally, a modern yet addictive arcade racer. Hurrah!
My first impressions of this game were that of the controls - simple, yet effective. I began on single player and went through a load of well designed tracks, cackling as I crushed the computer AI in all three medal difficulties and smiled, plotting the inevitable demise of my online multiplayer counterparts.. I was in for quite a shock.
My car handled like a sack of warm excrement!
Every time I turned a corner, I smashed into something and several cars shot past me. I swear I could see one driver flicking me off - damn you, Spanish team, DAMN YOU TO HELL.
Actually, I tell a lie - the other people are just far too good for me. I'm just not the racer type - but it didn't make this game any less awesome to play. And by awesome, I mean not the Americanised version. For instance "Hey dude, baseball! Awesome. You have red and yellow striped socks. That is awesome."
No, by AWESOME I mean incredible. Groin grabbingly incredible, even.
The graphics are standard, but who gives a toss when your sweaty arsecrack is hanging off the edge of your seat in anticipation of 'hopefully getting the best time on this whimsically pixelated track, dang nabbit'!
The sound isn't bad by any means, but there really isn't a lot you can put in other than a revving engine louder than Hitler in the shower, and a few things on the side. I can't fault them on it, to be fair,
This game is great value for money (if you spend any at all on it), and a must download, even if you aren't a fan of racers, I guarantee if you're going to start liking it, you're going to start liking it here.
Not need for speed, not Gran Turismo, here.
More reviews coming soon, guys. Sorry for the rather long wait.
