Tracks – The Train set game
This is a building and creative game based around wooden train set. Thoughts and breakdown on the game are below. Thanks!
Graphics
- Nothing to scream about but appropriate for the game. Simple 3D block design.
- Environments and themes are a bit bland in the background, but gives you room to add your own decorations which spices it up.
- Interesting first person view from the train leads to some cool visuals.
Game Play & Controls
- Controls take some getting used to on a controller. Probably more appropriate for mouse and keyboard, but they work. After the tutorial, I was able to play well.
- Game play is like many other builders and sandbox games. It’s open to what you want to create. You can take your time with this one; there aren’t many “Beat the clock” or aggressive scenarios. Very much centered around being creative with a bunch of available wooden train pieces and parts.
Sound
- Very basic sounds for placing items.
- You can blow the train whistle in first person mode, which is a bit of fun.
- The music is what is most prominent. It makes this already chill game even more relaxing. So relaxing that it put me to sleep…not really sure if that’s good or bad.
Fun Factor
- The fun is centered around the building and creativity.
- There are some scenarios you can of, but they aren’t overly complicated, and you can cheat/trick you way though about half of them.
- The “fun” seems to be specific to enjoying sandbox creative and trains…..if you aren’t overly excited about either of those, then this game isn’t for you.
Replay ability
- If you are into the creating and trains, you could spend some time here. I feel like the building fizzled out for me pretty quickly, though.
- The scenarios are pretty much do once and that’s it.
Achievements/Trophies
- This one is pretty easy to get all of the Achievements or trophies. You can knock these out in about an hour or two; less than that if you follow a guide.
Final Thoughts
- Fun for a bit; you might get more out of this if you are really in to open creative builders and, or, train sets. But the creativity factor fizzles out fast.
- Super easy Achievements or Trophies; I was able to knock them out in about 45 minutes.
- For me, I give this a 6/10. It’s kind of fun for a bit, but for me it getting boring quick.
