Honestly a step back
Here are my main problems:
Controls: Virtually the same as those in War for Cybertron, without have to hunt down ammo and life every five seconds. While this is an improvement over the last Transformers game, I didn't mind having to keep an eye on my amount of ammo; so long as it was not nearly as bad as War for Cybertron.
Story: Way too f****** short. Only seven levels and you're locked in to which character you use. I know they might be trying to plug the multiplayer as the best way to play as your favorite transformer but that doesn't cut it for me; I don't play multiplayer so I can't do that. Would have also been nice to play as someone other than Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Megatron, and Starscream; standard characters from the previous games. The notable exception is Mirage, Soundwave, and Laserbeak but really there needs to be more variety.
Aside from the lack of choice in Transformers, the fact is after the first mission with Bumblebee there's very little connection with the movies. I haven't seen Dark of the Moon but hopefully the movie will make sense of the game. If not, the game should have actually followed the movie instead like the previous two games.
Bonus Content:...............................................Wait there's bonus content that you earn??????? What there is doesn't deserve the name. All you get is the opportunity to rewatch the cinematics from the campaign and access to two more characters in multiplayer; again useless to me. Really if you wanted bonus content to help promote the movie, trailers from the movies, as well as character bios, concept art, the chance to replay levels with unlockable characters might be ideas.
Honestly I can't say I had high hopes for this game. However I expected something better than what the designers put out. I expected them to perhaps build on what they put out previously. Instead I'm unsurprisingly disappointed.
