A fun action game that'll appeal to "Gears of War" fans.
As you progress, you'll be able to upgrade firearms and equipment at "vendor" stores. Currency is earned through destroying enemies and backstory can be found in audio logs scattered throughout the expansive, yet linear levels.rnrnThe Transformers cannot take cover but are extremely mobile. The ability to transform slightly changes the dynamic of the action. And that extends over into the multiplayer as well. "Fall of Cybertron" features both cooperative and competitive online play. The former takes form of the popular "Horde" mode with similarties to one featured in "Mass Effect 3" in terms of the customization. Transformers can actually be customized in both co-op and competitive modes. You can change the body frame, face, color and armor of your solider. Meanwhile, the competitive modes featured here are traditional fare. Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill and Conquest are available and the loadouts and perks made popular in "Call of Duty 4" appear here as well (in some variation). Multiplayer maps are of the "Halo" variety.
FOC's graphics run on the Unreal engine and they are impressive. The top notch visual presentation is accompanied by great sound. The voice acting by Peter Cullen (reprising his role of Octomus Prime) and cast is impressive and the musical score is epic and quite cinematic. "Fall of Cybertron" ranks up with the "Gears of War" in terms of its quality. If you've had enough of Marcus Fenix adventures and want to saddle up for another awesome shoot 'em up, then "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" is for you.
Pros: Great presentation (sound/graphics are top notch). Satisfying weapons. Fun, fast-paced shooting. Multiplayer is surprisingly robust.
Cons: Overall, the action is extremely familiar. Lacking innovation.
