*Sigh*. I read so many negative reviews about this game. I eventually bought Decepticons on the DS as that got SLIGHTLY better reviews, and loved it. So I thought well, the PS2 version can't be much worse. Ohhhh I was wrong. I'm a huge fan of TFormers so thought I'd love this game. But everything about it shouts "unfinished". As soon as you load up, you'll notice the main menu is cheap and the text is just bog standard "thrown in at the minute". The in game graphics when you first start playing are pretty decent - the models are really pretty to look at. Thats where it ends though I'm afraid. 1. The camera. When you run, the screen shakes. This is cool for 15 minutes, then you get seasick. 2. The driving mechanics. Totally broken in every sense of the word. Turn one corner by pressing left on the analogue stick, and you'll slowly turn left. Try again on the next corner, using the exact same amount of pressure on the stick, and you'll spin 180 degrees. Terrible. 3. Driving Physics. You can hit a car and send it flying, but touch a lamppost and you'll stop dead, or drive very very slowly, unable to dislodge it. Mission failed. Again. 4. Flying controls/physics. The flying characters move up and down of their own free will. The controls say the right stick raises/lowers pitch. No it doesnt. It moves the camera, and thats it. You have no control at all. 5. Locking on. Enemy between 0 and 9 metres in front of you? No lock on. 11 metres or more? No lock on. You need to get the in the EXACT place to lock on, which is incredibly frustrating. Ahhh, you know what? I could go on...and on...and on.....
About the rubbish missions....the rubbish drones.....Starscreams crappy floaty jump....the fact you can't select characters on freeplay.....
But I think you have the picture. For a rental you'll get enough play. I NEVER rent games as I think its pointless, but PLEASE do not buy this game until you've played it first. I traded my copy in 2 days after buying it. Take it from a diehard TFormers fan...
Transformers, what a great game. The basic premise of the game is that you have to get the Allspark and prevent it from falling in to the opposing faction's hands. The unique thing about it is that you can play as either... Read Full Review
