Transformers is a detailed, highly interactive inviroment game that's fun but doesn't quite follow the movie.

User Rating: 8.2 | Transformers: The Game PS2
Transformers the game is based off of the 2007 movie "Transformers". It has all the characters and settings of the movie, but the story lines of the movie and game are quite diffrent. Both storylines are about the battle to find the allspark and keep it out of the decepticons hands, but to do this they must seek help from a boy named Sam Witwicky and defeat the decepticons standing in their way. You can choose your side, Autobot or decepticon. The ability to choose between races wasn't included in many of the other Transformers games, so it's a huge improvement. When you start out playing choose the autobots first, you may be a big fan of destruction but trust me you want to go with them at the start. There're only 5 levels really to go through, each having diffrent sub missions and energon cubes that unlock bonus content. After you beat the autobot side you can only really play free roam as optimus or bumblebee, you will have to select one of the diffrent chapters to play as ironhide or jazz again. There's only 3 basic places in the autobot side, the suburbs which you play as bumblebee on the morning time level but playing as optimus on the night time one, the hoover dam which you play as the newer 2009 concept camaro bumblebee, and the city which you play as all characters. There's also an unlockable "cybertron autobot/decepticon" mode which all you basically do is kill enemies in a confined space on cybertron. The real problems with the story line is that they really didn't meet up in the right places and sam and mikala didn't really have their personalities from the movie. Another thing that's really not that important, jazz was killed by brawl not megatron like in the movie, but these are only minor flaws.

Playing as decepticons is really fun and full of action. This side followed more of the story line, and had more levels than the autobot side and more playable characters. Playing as blackout and barricad is prety cool, but playing as starscream is just plain tedious. In some chapters you must find the diffrent action zones in a limited amount of time having no idea where to go. Scorponok was kind of pointless, all his missions were was going around searching for targeted vehicles to destroy. And megatron could barely make a turn in the big city, but you didn't really have to use his jet mode much. Over all both sides of the game were great. There're also unlockable G1 characters and G1 skins. But dont expect to get any of the G1 characters til lthe end of the game. Theres at least 100 energon cubes to find on each level, so this game will keep you occupied for quite awhile.
