One of the best business development games to ever be published!
I had been introduced to the Transport Tyccon series from the first game. And one day I noticed this game in the shelves of a video game retailer and I had to have it. I worked for money to get, and dispite my parents wishes, spent it on the first video game I ever purchased. And i never have regret this purchase!
The graphics, compared to todays standards, are cheesy and old school isometric view (bird's eye). This is before all the hardcore 3D RTS games with high 3D graphics. But they delievered all that needed. Incredible details of houses, industries and vehicles is breathtaking.
The game introduced 3 different landscapes. Including one funky "candlyland" with vivid colors and fun industries like sugar mines and such. Even though that landscape is one of the most silliest around, it is always fun to play around in and have a good laugh over the silly names of towns and industries.
The sounds could have gotten a bit more love, but for me it didn't bother me that much. The music however is snappy and fun, and doesn't get tiresome after endless hours of play.
The gameplay is good, and intuitive. AI settings might have been more smoother between settings, as the hardest setting did have ruthless competitors and very fast, but each lower step down made them more or less stupid, and I had great pleasure in watching them laying ridicilous track of roads and rail. But it always gave good competition.
The game is easy to learn and after a bit of playing around with the tools and such, it comes like second nature. There are almost endless oppurtunities to enlarge your transport company and endless amount of vehicles to use.
In total, if you enjoy the business strategy games, you will be totally satisfied with Transport Tycoon Deluxe as it will "Guarantee to satisfy the megalomaniac in everyone!"
