Fun and well detailed, but misses the chance to inherit the simcity legacy because of lack of depth and freedom

I dont play citybuilders since simcity 4, and it came natural to me comparing Tropico to it. I never player the previous tropico's, so i didnt expect anything more than i read on reviews online.

after completing the tutorial and a free play, my feelings of it are that has been fun, but i dont think i will replay it. I feel like i already saw everything it had to show me, and just adjusting the initial settings to make it harder is not my idea of prolonging the game lifespan.

The comparison with the simcities is blatant. You cant change the environment (dictators dont have any bulldozer to move dirt around?), roads are very large and difficult to set (and this is a major gameplay issue), it is not very clear how to use garages to make your populace move faster around, construction workers often stay idle with plenty of job to do (okay, it is the Caribbean and the siesta and all, but hey 28 overall workers 5 buildings to build and no one is moving his/her a$$? who do i have to whip?), and above all too few buildings, map is too little and the time for earning points is too short.

now i would have really enjoyed something like a simcity's city building choices and freedom and tropico's politics and micromanagement. As it is, i feel disappointed, just a missed chance to do something really great.
