The kind of game that makes you call into work sick, and order take out for a few days... goods and bads listed too
The reason I was more amped to play the True Crime series as oppose to the Grand Theft Auto series was because as in both games, you have complete free roaming capability in large city's and the ability to highjack cars, trucks, police cruisers and motorcyles, but only in True Crime, they offer constant options of doing "side jobs" or "street missions" that can keep you occupied for hours on end, and make you say, oh hell, i completely forgot that i'm supposed to go race a circuit for the mission part of the game. The city's are huge and full of different people and they also include the subway transit system or taxi cabs to take you anywhere in the city in about 15 seconds. I would say about 65% or so of the buildings that have doors in front of the are enterable. The cool parts are buying weapons, cars, bullying money out of store owners, planting drugs on people on the street you pat down, searching trunks of cars for things, buying different hair styles and clothes, it's all extremely realistic and addictive. The soundtrack is great and there are also music shops where you can buy more tracks, but i haven't really done that yet, saving money for cars and upgrades for them and weapons suits myself a little better. The street missions they offer you to do or not are way better then the original games. They have hostage situations, bum fights, bomb diffusing in offices, major illegal weapons deals in wherehouse's you have to infultrate. Of coarse you always have the option of playing good cop/bad cop, selling the drugs and things you find at pawn shops for money instead of turning them in and all.
One of the things that did bother me quite a bit was the fact that a good percentage of the time someone talks in the game, it kinda jerks or skips a bit. The ability to pull if certain moves and weapons can also be a hassle if your not used to it. It seemed that once i polished the game with some windex, and used a disk cleaner in my system, it cleared up and sped up a little. I am not opposed to games cursing, cause for f*ck sake, who doesn't these days, but it also gets rather overwhelming when everyone you here either drops "f" bombs and sh*t or *ss h*le all the time. Its fine, just maybe moderate a little next time.
All and all this game is phenominal and I haven't one regret about the purchase. I hope this helps anyone concerned on buy True Crime: New York City, so if you'll excuse me, I have to go back to playing it now.
