It's ok, but it's no GTA

User Rating: 7 | True Crime: Streets of LA XBOX
True Crime: Streets of LA is about a cop named Nick Kang, who is sent to investigate mob crimes in LA, which run deeper than he may think. The Graphics in this game are really nothing special, and pop-up issues some time confront this game. The Controls in this game could be better. For example, when you throw a punch, it automatically goes into a different mood, which can get in the way if you are doing something not "fighting related". The Sound and soundtrack are actually pretty good. There's no radio, the only time you hear music is while you are driving, or if doing a mission. The majority of the soundtrack is West-Coast Rap, not surprisingly. The storyline is pretty much straight forward, but not linear, being that there is more than 1 ending. Although the main story starts spinning out-of-control in the 2nd Half of the game, it'll raise alot of eyebrows. Some of the aspects of the gameplay I liked, and some I didn't like. I liked that you could bust street crimes, which always seems interesting. But what really brought down the gameplay was it's realism. You could duel wield AK-47's, which just made me say "Ok, that's pushing it" The game's main quest is only about 7 hours long, which hardcore gamers can probably beat in 1-2 sittings. With the extra missions with the hidden character, it can be alot longer You can also unlock a Super-Secret Character, whose mission is pretty well thought out. This game isn't good enough to fill GTA's shoes, but I still managed to find it somewhat fun. Renting this game for the weekend will keep you somewhat entertained
