I generally like open-ended gameplay more than linear gameplay. But some times it can go a little too far. Turok is described as being a huge game that will take hours and hours to complete. But the reason for that is you're spending the bulk of your time trying to figure out where to go next. That, and the fact that the save points can some times take HOURS to get to, means that it will take a pretty dedicated gamer to play this through. This is a well done game, however. The graphics are decent for the N64, and I played it without the expansion pack. The sounds are good. The variety of weapons is excellent. It's almost worth playing just to use the weapon that fires a drill that burrows through the enemy's head.
Turok 2 is a fun game, and a decent FPS experience. It can get a little tiring at times.
