A must-have for the PSP!
"Twisted Metal: Head-On" is a great game, it really is, and almost as good as "Twisted Metal: Black" for the PS2. While the game is somewhat short and can get a bit repititive at times overall it's a lot of fun. If you're a fan of Twisted Metal then you'll see some familiar faces in this game, but you'll find plenty of new ones too. The mix of old and new characters makes for a really great "feel", and really adds to the story.
I really like how there are even some of the really old characters that only appeared once and never again, such as Grasshopper from the first Twisted Metal way-back-when, and both of the police officers who drive Outlaw from Twisted Metal 1 and 2. There's also characters related to past characters such as the younger sister of Twister (I can never remember the name of Twister's driver). Axel is back too and continues his story. Even Mr. Slamm returns, though a different characters.
Like I said, the game is not without new characters, there are plenty of them. The game looks great on the PSP and plays quite well too. The story is what you'd expect if you've played the other Twisted Metal games-- Calypso runs the Twisted Metal tournament every year and drivers compete for the chance at having whatever wish they want granted. Of course Calypso usually manages to somehow ingeniously twist their wish so it's not quite what the driver expected.
Overall the game is great. Like all games it has its down sides, such as repititive levels and the controls can take a little getting used to on the PSP, and some of the character's stories aren't really all that great (though most are pretty good). But the game is just plain fun. If you're a Twisted Metal fan or if you're a fan of car combat games this game is a must-have for your PSP.
