Try watching the ufc first before you rate this game poorly, saying its unrealistic! This game is great!
Anyway to the game, the graphics are pretty stunning, especially on the better known fighters such as rampage, lesnar, grithin, you can see the veins in their arms, and the sweat dripping down them in the later rounds, you can also see the moles on bispings back, amazing lol. The cuts and bruisings look realistic with noticeably red markings on the body when you keep hitting the same area, equally the replays look great with a slow mo face shot of the fighter who gets knocked out.
The gameplay is hard to master, even when you do all the training checklists, it doesn't tell you about reversing transitions on the ground, (tap analog stick), quick step back (double tap back), and how to do a rubber guard (Lb half circle clockwise). All the fighters have two fighting techniques ie muay thai, boxing, and with different techniques come different moves, so try practising with different fighters to find out what techniques suit you. The stand up game is fun and easy for beginners, with regular punches and kicks changing to knees and elbows when you are close to the other fighter, if you are wanting the picturebook knockout there are a number of special moves you can use, move further away and you can do the superman punch, spinning back fist or flying knee! oooh man right on the button!
This game should keep you busy for some time, along with the exhibition match and career mode they've included classic matches in which you must act out the conclusion of the match based on the real life event, and if not done on easy mode this can be pretty difficult, e.g trying to submit joe stevens in the second round with a rear naked choke, sounds easier than it is! After you win the classic fights you unlock a short highlight video of the actual fight, which is pretty cool.
Online play can be very frustrating, when I first played online I couldn't win to save my life, no matter how good you are in the stand up, if you havn't got a ground game you will lose! Im now on level 50, and the problem is now; say if i fight someone level 35 if they win I could lose upto 800 points and if I win i could win as little as 20 lol fair? No, another problem I have with online play is that people quit alot! and you don't recieve the win which can be very frustrating, my suggestion is don't play someone with a high percentage of quitting, or if you feel that you are winning in the fight don't finish them off, but wait for a decision, in which they don't have time to quit, thus winning a fight you probably wouldn't of got.
In ufc 10 I would like to see better online play, more submissions, a better career mode maybe some sort of storyline involving the ultimate fighter show, ultimate fighter winners and Randy couture.
Overall this game is very addictive with great graphics and gameplay with plenty to keep you occupied, just let down slightly by online play, and a repetitive career mode.
