Fun, until it starts to get repetitive.

This game seems like a lot of fun at first. Controlling spidey is a dream. It really captures the feel of being spiderman swinging around NYC that the movies did a fantastic job of creating. Unfortunately once the fun wears off and you find yourself doing the same old things to get the story going you'll feel cheated out of your money.

The problem is that in order to get the story going you have to complete a certain amount of city goals. Combat tours, (swing around a preset path beating up thugs), race, or good samaritan missions that pop up on your map (usually involving beating up thugs or taking a citizen to the hospital). Once the missions start they usually involve you chasing a boss character, stopping to ave a few endangered citizens once in a while, and then finally beat up the boss once you beat him/her up.

That sound like fun to you? I felt like the entire game I have to go around chasing this boss or another. Even as venom, its the same thing. Chase a bad guy and then finally fight him. I know swinging is fun and the chases might have been interesting except that its hard to keep track of your target. The camera is pretty shoddy and doesn't help. You'll find yourself losing sight of your target between buildings and having to do over the race when you fall too far behind.

Don't buy this game. If you like racing/chasing buy something else. They really could've taken a few more pages out of GTA's book. The game tries desperately to be like that but fails miserably because it doesn't give you much to do.
