That should be all the encouragement you need to get this game.

User Rating: 8.9 | Ultimate Spider-Man PS2
Introduction:
Ultimate Spiderman is based off the comic book series. Peter Parker is a flimsy 15 year old boy bitten and given the powers of Spiderman, and his childhood friend, Eddie Brock, becomes enveloped by the Venom suit, the suit created by Peter and Brock's parents as a cure for cancer.

Story-9/10:
The story is just awesome, sticking to its comic book roots. The story is fantastic, starting right after Brock becomes the host of the Venom suit. The developers make it as though you are looking at a comic book, with different panels and words expressing interjections. There is no offline parts where you just don't understand what is going on. And adding to all that, you play Venom's story as well!! How cool is that!!

Gameplay-9/10:
The gameplay is simply fantastic. Peter isn't a master combat strategist in this game, like any other 15 year old would be. He just runs around bouncing off of walls doing crazy combos, he does no know how to fight! This just adds to the fun of the game. The fighting system offers plenty of combos, such as wall combos, web combos, grabs. Venom, is very different from Peter. Instead of being the sam character that just looks different, Venom is brute strength. He can faceplant people, spinbuster them, throw cars, and all that. He doesn't use web, instead he has a huge jump, like the Hulk's. But Venom's life energy is always fading, so he needs to feed on people to keep it up. Which is no problem really, with the densely populated streets of New York.As you excel in the story mode, you level up as well, offering more melee combos. Now done with the fighting system, this game like "Spiderman the Movie 2" offers free roaming, between Queens and Manhatten.

Missions-8.5/10:
Missions are fun as well. They are distinguished by City Events and City Goals. City Events is when crimes are being commited in NY, so you have to race off and be a hero. Although, of course, you don't have to. City Goals are required to move in the story. They involve races, combat tours where you take down a large gang, and gathering tokens scattered around the city, which you'll find while doing missions most likely. The problem with these is, races can get awfully repetetive and boring, same goes for combat tours. Though races are a lot of fun, and you always love beating up bad guys, repetition is the key word. And the story is just not long enough.

Graphics-10/10:
The unique cell shaded graphics look like it was taken right out of the comic book! They are almost as sharp as you can get, they are some of the best graphics out there today!

Sound-7.5/10:
The voice acting is sharp, and the same goes for the citizens of Queens and Manhatten. Other sound animations like crashed cars and fires are spick and spam as well, it's just the backround music. The backround is great too, but is just stops abruptly when starting a combat tour or such. And it won't come back after some time free roaming. These halts in the music make the game boring somewhat, and annoying.

Tilt-8.9/10:
Overall a great game, although it has its flaws, this a great game, and should be highly considered a purchase. For hardcore Spidey gamers, consider it a rent due to the short story.
