Good game, but easy to forget

User Rating: 7.8 | Um Jammer Lammy PS
Well, I never played Parappa for the PlayStation; I skipped right ahead to Um Jammer Lammy. I had played Band Brothers for DS, so I knew what to expect. This game is quirky, fun and a little bit addictive, but very short and easy to beat and forget about.
Um Jammer Lammy puts you in the role of, well, Lammy, a willing-to-be rock star guitar player. You must push the buttons at the right time to rock your guitar with rythm. As you progress through the few levels [there's about 8] the songs become a little bit more challenging but nothing out of this world; the hardest songs take about four or five tries to complete. This is what kills Um Jammer Lammy; very easy and a bit short. Once you complete story mode, Parappa himself becomes available to play, and those 8 songs are remixed to include Parappa's rapping. Even though it's a nice addition, it doesn't do a great deal to the game itself.
The graphics are very original; you won't see any game that looks like this. Besides originality, nothing too good is here.
The sound is good, but I believe it could've been way better. Not good, not bad. I did notice, however, that the voice acting is very good, especially considering the game's year of release [1999]
The replay value is good if you have someone to play with; there are both co-operative and competitive multiplayer modes that can keep you and a friend rocking for hours. For single players, it won't last too long; you could finish it in three days if you play for around 3 hours a day.
So there you have it; a good game that could've been better. Considering the price though [I got it new for $7!] it's a buy...if you can still find it.
