The game explores Drake and Sully's relationship. Similar to U2. Touching story. Better multiplayer. Great game.
The first two installments of Uncharted have had the same basic style of gameplay that we have come to accept and the third installment does not deviate from them in any major way. This is easily the weakest part of the game, but not the reason why we have enjoyed playing the series. It would've been nice to have seen a major improvement in this area, but other than a couple of new fighting moves that Drake can do, the gameplay is true to its predecessors.
Content: 9.5/10
After all of the amount of content that was included in Uncharted 2, anything that was included in this game had to blow us away. Let's just say that Naughty Dog was able to deliver a stun grenade, rather than the frag grenade. The amount of puzzles and riddles have increased and require more thought and keen intuition. It's games like Uncharted and God of War that get this area of the game right. A couple of knocks on this area of the game is the weapons available in the game. Other than one or two new additions, it is pretty much the same class as the last game. For some that may be a preference, but for others it leaves them wanting more or something different. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The enemies are more varied and a little smarter than previous AIs in past games.
Graphics: 10/10
To get an idea on how big Uncharted actually is, at some point during development the game's content was somewhat cut down due to the fact that the game was too big for the Blu Ray disc. For those of you who aren't familiar with the difference between Blu Ray and DVD, Blu Ray can hold more than five times the amount of information that DVD can. So the idea of this game being on the DVD supported Xbox 360 is quite out of the question. Uncharted has always been a beautiful game and gamers have been lickin' their chops since the first trailer of Uncharted 3 was revealed. It was just Drake, a crashed cargo plane, and a sea of sand in a seemingly unending desert. It was that unknown horizon that made us excited about the possibilities. The game delivered on that note, specifically with the environments and different places. This game actually visits more areas of the world than the previous installments. The character models have received the least amount of work, but they have improved on them. You won't focus as much on the characters because you'll just be amazed at the amount of detail some of these environments have received.
Story: 10/10
Over the series, gamers have just fallen for many of the characters in the game because of who they are and how we can relate to them. We have our favorites and all of the protagonists from the last game return for another adventure with Nate. I won't give any spoilers, but the story revolves around the first object that was presented in Drake''s Fortune, the series' first game. That object is Nate's ring, which he wears around his neck and happens to be Francis Drake's gift from the queen. Marlowe, the game's antagonist can make the case as the series' most evil character, but I believe she is on the same level as Lazarevic and satan. The series has always focused on a specific relationship between Nate and one of the other characters. In the first game, you had the relationship between Nate and his past and in the second game, it was about Nate and Elena Fisher. In Uncharted 3, we focus more on the complicated relationship between Nate an Sully. All of this takes us cross several different continents, the largest desert in the world, and the biggest adventure that gamers have been taken on thus far.
Replay Value: 8/10 (Own it)
I haven't tried out the online content because I have to cough up 10 bucks to do so, but co-op is interesting and can allow you to play with other people locally. The mandatory fee for online play reduces the value of the game, especially if you feel strongly about paying select games 10 bucks to play online. After you get through the main story, there isn't much left to try out in the game, but that doesn't mean the experience will be anything short of amazing.
