A proven recipe that doesn't disappoint a third time round. Truly one of the best game series out there.
I've only been playing this series since July of this year and the first instalments had already made a significant impact on me so I was already truly pumped for Uncharted 3. It's fantastic story line worthy of a GOOD blockbuster movie and it's terrific set pieces which involve chasing a convoy of cars in the arabian desert on horseback (particularly reminded me of the tank battle in The Last Crusade) to escaping a sinking cruise liner just make for a completely absorbing experience. The AI is frustratingly good for an adventure game and the platforming elements are smooth and well balanced. Level design is beyond impressive. How the developers have managed to reproduce such beautifully designed levels again and again is beyond me, they've truly surpassed themselves this time. The music is fitting and the voice acting is superb once again. The multiplayer portion of the game, while not quite as polished as the single player element is still good fun but it won't unfortunately keep you coming back, however it is important to remember that this is a single player game primarily and to be honest in my opinion, it should be treated as such.
While it's hard to fault, the only problems I could possible pick on is the clumsy controls and the often frustrating cover mechanic which would have you pop in and out of cover uncontrollably. Often instead of taking cover by a wall or box by pressing the circle button you'd simply roll yourself at it. Also this instalment seemed shorter than the others by a few hours. However this being said this is still an utterly fantastic game and a must buy. In my opinion the pacing is just right and the storyline I loved making it my favourite out of the series. Now I can't wait till Uncharted 4. Maybe not having an Uncharted instalment for over a year will convince me to get a PSVita and get the Golden Abyss!
