Tells a brilliant story, and has some of the craziest and most explosive action in video games today. Drake is back!!

User Rating: 10 | Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception PS3
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has been my favorite game ever since I played it.
I love absolutely everything about it and can't realistically flaw it.
It had a gripping story with immersive characters and stunning voice acting, not to mention the gameplay was incredible and the action set pieces were a blast to play through.

Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception doesn't step outside the box, in that it sticks to what worked in the previous Uncharted games, and then supersizes it and polishes it past perfection.

With that said, Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception has taken it's place as my new favorite video game, Uncharted 2 coming in at a close second.
So lets get started!

Uncharted has always been known for having compelling stories and memorable characters and voice acting. It's all quite cliched, but that's why it works.
In fact, I would say Uncharted 3 is considerably less cliched than 1 and 2 were. Some moments really caught me by suprise.
In Among Thieves, Drake stepped up to the role of hero and saved the world.
Drakes Deception goes about it quite differently.

Everything here is more intense and personal story wise, with a larger emphasis on the relationships between the characters, particularly that of Nate and Sully.
Instead of Drake playing the hero, Uncharted 3 highlights why the whole treasure hunting thing is an addiction for him, and how it affects the people that know him.
In this game, Nate is pushed to his absolute limits.
And it's a joy to play through.

That brings us to gameplay! Nothing is really different here. Regular cover based shooting, the shootouts aren't really the strongest point of Uncharted, though they are still heaps of fun and very enjoyable.
At times they can be quite difficult and become frustrating, but it's not actually a major issue and it doesn't hinder the enjoyment factor.
The adventuring is quite similar, though the world of Uncharted 3 definitely feels more open, there's more room for exploration.
While not an open world game, it's definitely not as linear as the original and Among Thieves. It's a lot of fun.
The best thing about Uncharted's gameplay is the incredible action set pieces. Here there are even more, and they are bigger, better, and more explosive.

You've got your escape from a burning chateau, falling out of a flying plane, finding your way through a capsized boat, and many, many others.

These moments are many, and unforgetable. They make the gameplay experience.
I don't want to give anything else away.

There are also puzzle sections, more than in the other games. The puzzles feel more fleshed out and there are more of them.
They are enjoyable and wont keep you wandering around aimlessly for ages, generally they are quite easy.

Graphics are absolutely fantastic! The best I've seen in gaming, somehow they look even prettier than Uncharted 2. So much detail.

Sound is also amazing, the musical score fits what's going on on screen perfectly and hightens the mood.
Voice acting as expected is second to none, the new characters are also voiced well.
Guns and explosions all sound meaty and loud.

Multiplayer is also improved upon, and is heaps of fun.
It's more fastpaced than single player, in that taking cover a lot of the time wont help you.
The experience here is unusually cinematic for multiplayer, some maps take place on a moving subway train, or a plane about to take off.
It's all more fully fleshed out and easier to get in to than the multiplayer in Among Thieves, not to mention more rewarding.

Then there's co-operative modes.
There's a surival mode, which is basically exactly what it sounds like.
Then there's co-op adventure which is essentially missions taken from Uncharted 2 and 3 that have been heavily altered and a separate little story is structured around them.

In co-op you wont find any massive action set pieces or much platforming, it's mostly just co-operatively fighting your way through bad guys.

The multiplayer modes aren't the reason to buy Uncharted, though they are certainly lots of fun and give the game it's longetivity and money's worth.

In the end, Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception is absolutely amazing! A game every PS3 owner must have, and if you only have an Xbox, go get rid of it and buy a PS3.
This game has everything you could want in an action adventure game, no one should miss out on it.
Best game in the Uncharted series yet.
