Flawless. Uncharted 3 is the quint-essential third person shooter of the current gen.
Nathan Drake returns on another treasure hunt which will have you revisiting his past, escaping burning buildings, defeating "demonic" soldiers and much much more.
Lets begin with the technical aspect of the game. Uncharted 3 is flawless in this regard. It has a more robust combat system where Drake can do multiple simultaneous counters, use stealth from more positions and directions than before and even lob a grenade back. The graphics are the among the best to grace this gen so far and, in particular, the sand is rendered with mind boggling detail.
The 10-12 hour campaign will keep you right on the edge of your seat as you never quite know what predicament Drake will find himself in next.
The multiplayer has been hauled up to create an incredible experience. Now you have more modes, more customisation, better gunplay (thanks to the rehauling of the combat system) and thus it is nothing short of perfect.
In Uncharted 2 you only had as many as 5 co-op modes , Uncharted 3 brings in the new "Hunter Arena" mode. In this mode, 2 teams of 2 fight it out as Heroes and Villains. The Heroes have to place the treasure in the chest and the Villains have to stop them. It's addicting and creative fun as you can play this in a whole number of ways for example the Heroes team can decide to use one player as bait and the other player can use this to eliminate the enemy, or 2 Heroes players can decide to just start throwing the treasure towards the intended chest in hopes of flushing out the Villains.
When all is said and done, Uncharted 3 is the best third-person shooter so far to grace this gen. Uncharted 2 was amazing, but its successor is even better. That tells you everything you need to know.
