It's a pretty good game

So I remember playing Uncharted for the first time when I was 12. I was pretty impressed of what a game it was. Playing a demo. Had some cool ideas. But has it aged well? I think not.

Uncharted is a third person shooter platformer action adventure game. Not unlike Tomb Raider.

You play as the main protagonist of Nathan Drake who came out to search for lost treasure with a girl and his mentor Chloe in a documentary and a elderly mentor. In the traditional Naughty Dog style of story and setting. What they find is themselves mixed up in fight with pirates. The story is pretty ok in my opinion. All my friends keep comparing it to Indiana Jones. But I don't think Drake's anywhere as cool as that guy. Many cliches go through out the story.

The graphics of Uncharted are very nice. They show what the PS3 could do. All the models and environments are very polygon filled. Have lots of detailed textures. Very colorful and bright. Why it feels like a epic movie or Disney flick. Everything is shiny and green. Lot's of detailed explosions. Beautiful draw distances. It looks good.

The gameplay however is something I don't care for. I really love cinematic video games. But this game seems to force it quite a bit. Everything about the game feels a bit off. Be it the platforming or the shooting. The shooting feels stiff and weak. Very tin. And there is just way too much ledge climbing for comfort. You're just pushed down this linear path. Deviating from it is just too much for the game. And to make matters worse. The controls just feel poor. They aren't nice and light. They are heavy and just feel like they make you do whatever the game makes you do . When you jump. Nathan just does a little jump. It's supposed to be realistic.

The puzzles are mildly challenging. They do a bit of hand holding but it's OK.

There's health regen. I guess that's ok . But, there is little reward for what you do. The rewards you get are just useless trinkets that probably open deleted scenes and that's just it.

The music score is pretty good. The theme is epic.

Overall, Uncharted is a Jack of all trades and a master of none. I feel like I've just seen it all before but better. This is obviously not the best Naughty Dog could do.
