Superb for its time, great now
User Rating: 8 | Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered PS4
This game is a very essential start to the Uncharted franchise (my favourite franchise) and it did a tremendous job. What really brings it down and makes it feel outdated, though, is the jet ski level. It’s so disjointed and irritating, that it brings it down from a 9 to an 8. Only problem with the rest of the game is the stuff that’s missing, not necessarily what was put in. There’s a missing feel of using your wits to solve puzzles. The answers r spoon-fed to you. There’s also a traversal element missing, I’d say, as most of the game is third-person cover-based shooting. The shooting is actually really nice and fluid, and makes you feel really badass when you can pull off a good combo with grenades, hand-to-hand combat and guns. The way I’d put it is: it does everything it needs to do, but not everything it could do. It’s a great game to replay, and possibly the most replayable game I’ve ever had the honor of experiencing. There’s something about it which makes it feel really fresh and fun, like you are on this adventure with the characters. It’s very immersive due to the natural dialogue and great cinematography by the Naughty Dog crew. It’s an 8/10 for me.
