Great game but the developers cannot be serious with the obvious clichés present.

User Rating: 8.5 | Uncharted: Drake's Fortune PS3
The reason I picked up Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was because Naughty Dog made it. ND is responsible for the Jak and Daxter series which in my opinion were some of the best games on the PS2. Once I heard Uncharted would be an ongoing series, I had to see what game would Naughty Dog actually but over their best selling Jak series.

The story is basic, many people compare the plotline to something out of Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider. I can understand the Indiana Jones comparision however Uncharted plays much better than an Tomb Raider game I've played. I wont spoil any storyline aspects in this review however I will say there is a point later in the game where you may say "Resident Evil?". Of course that was my reaction to a minor storyline twist which occured.

The story is entertaining but the Hollywood action movie clichés were made me wonder what happened to the developer's creativity like in the Jak series. The gameplay is like Prince of persia when traversing and GTA minus the lock on feature when engaged in combat. Shooting at first can be a pain but it takes short time to get use to. The AI while in combat is fairly impressive; enemies will gradually advance upon your cover if you are in one spot for too long. Enemies will also approach from blind spots on your flanks with taking cover which can be very aggravating. My favorite aspect of this game is the soundtrack, particularly the opening theme on the main menu which is also played in the final cutscene. The musical score is an absolute masterpiece and really sets a mood for something grand however I believe the story could have been much grander. None the less, this is still a good game and I recommend it especially if you are a Jak fan.
