Better than I expected; Untold Legends provides an excellent hack and slash experience.

User Rating: 8.9 | Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade PSP
I can understand why gamespot might give this game a low rating. It does follow a fairly basic formula of button-mashing, dungeon crawling, hack and slash RPG. However, for a gamer who isn't well versed in RPG's, I believe this game can provide a decent level of satisfaction. When purchasing my PSP, I wanted to a get a good cross-section of games. I have never really been into RPG's so I thought I would give Untold Legends a try. So far, I have been really impressed with the game(mostly due to the low score on GS and other sites...my expectations were not that high). The controls feel tight, and though the fighting mechanic is extremely simple(think button smashing) it is still entertaining. I have really enjoyed using the different "power moves". These provide at least some variety in button mashing and are implemented well. The story so far is alright, there is enough there to draw me into three hour sessions of dungeon crawling. The inventory system works well, and I have enjoyed the apparent variety of weapons and items available to pick up and use or sell. Graphically, the game is like every other PSP title(IMHO): Superior to anything I have seen on other handhelds. The game really looks great. I have never been a big fan of RPG's, so I don't have a lot of experience in what's good and what's not. I can say this: if you are looking for something a little different and fresh, in comparison to the rest of PSP release library, you can find it with Untold Legends. If you are new to RPG's, you will probably derive a lot of enjoyment from this game.
