The first Untold Legends for the PSP is a fun and enjoyable game, but does little to set itself apart from other hack'n'slash titles. Brotherhood of the Blade is considered an RPG, but involves a great deal more button mashing than other RPG's. I'm a hack'nslash fan, and had a lot of fun with the gameplay. Traditional RPG fans will be less than impressed by the actual RPG aspects. Players concerned with the RPG aspects can expect to earn more gold than they could possibly ever spend, find more weapons than they can carry, and earn special abilities which are completely useless yet difficult to obtain. The story is not very well thought out and does little to really bring players into the game. The game is also very, very long for a hack'n'slash title. While other action/RPG's on the PSP (JLA, X-Men Legends, Marvel Ultimate Alliance) use characters and stories that interest players to keep them going, Untold Legends just offers the gameplay. If you're up for 40-50 hours of button mashing, this game's for you. Visually, the game looks as impressive as any RPG in the PSP library. Basic controls are responsive and easy to master, and the game offers enough optional missions to keep players busy for possibly up to 60 hours on the first playthrough. The soundtrack consists solely of music and combat sounds, with lots of text used to express character thoughts. I may sound like I'm being hard on the game, but I did enjoy it enough to purchase the sequel. The bland story and lack of spoken dialogue, along with the poor RPG elements, will make many traditional gamers steer clear of this one. Gamers looking for some easy hack'n'slash fun on the go will be happy with this title.
