Perhaps the most annoying yet addictive racing game on the cube... well both of those things!
I will get the single negative about this game out of the way early, the controlls are very poor you may have played tough controlls like F ZERO GX's but they not irritation cause there fair its just the speed that can make things tricky you may have played poor controlls in mercedes world racing or true crime LA but this game trully has awefull controlls unless you like smaller cars and have patience. The controlls are realistic BUT the minute you go offroad even slight or try a hairpin bend the controlls are ridiculous now I can handle GX without a single crash for hours on end its just you will do a 360 or backflip if you drive on grass inthis game, simple as.
With that said if you can learn the tricks of the trade and learn to use the brakes, a lot this game provides astounding enjoyment take the career node for example at first you think, oh dear no cars to race against this is going to suck but then you realise it prevents irritating crashes with other drivers also the speed you can reach is phenominal. Most car games go quicker but there on motorways and citys sites you see every day and are not very rugged so its a calm ride even 200 miles an hour isnt much, yes ok GX's 2000 miles an hour is quicker but even going 60 miles an hour careering through France's little windy roads or Swedens snow is quite special.
Even if the career is too much of a push there is a series of challenges taking sectors of tracks and you just race through, fun if you only have a minute or so before dinner. 24 tracks is quite impressive itself each with different weather variations AND in the career mode ofen you go the inverse way going thorugh the course backwards which is a lot of fun, not quite like mario karts mirror mode.
Time trials are good too and allow you to use any car that you want of about 20 at first using the 1.6 cars allows good handling solving that problem and decent speed but the 2.0 cars have great speed and power yet poor handling but the subaru imprezza is more than likey to draw most attension I can highly recomend the little cars especially Voltzwagons and fords, there may be no Audis for Audi fans BUT Voltzwagon owns Audi so problem solved, I myself am most certainly not an Audi fan but you never know!
As a whole I highly recomend this game as the best rally game on the Gamecube and wii and one of the few racers more addictive than Excite truck and better it has to be said, if youre looking for a good racer though one game tops this, F ZERO GX, it may be my favourite game ever but Im honestly not being by-est if you just want a good racer F ZERO if you want a rally or realistic racer V rally 3.
