Sticky controls ruined a game that might have had some potential at some point early on in its development.
The Bad: The controls and by extension, the gameplay, was horrendous. There is some decent gameplay to be had underneath the pitiful animation and sticky control. Other games in the Valis series demonstrate that this game does have potential it's just too bad they had too waste all the effort bringing this one to the TGCD instead of its better sequel.
The Ugly: The anime style story board intermission scenes were another aspect that was unusual at the time. Sadly, the storyline doesn't make much sense, thus ruining a feature that could have made up for a lot. But to be fair, a lot of anime doesn't make sense to me either, so maybe I say this because I'm not a hardcore "otaku" or whatever anime fans call themselves these days.
The only reason I even played this game is because it was sold to me with the TGCD. I couldn't possibly recommend playing this version of the game other than as a curiosity for those really interested in obscure console hardware and even at that there are much better games to be had. Though, I must mention that I did have fun playing this game so it isn't worthless, but it's one of those games that could only really be enjoyed relative to the time period as the only things good about it are common place today. Since those things are so common the "wow" factor that existed back then, will do the exact opposite to someone playing it today.
