One thing is for sure you need to play this.
-The period system I love it because it keeps the story going but it's not restricting as people may think. There is more than enough time to visit all the dungeons at least once. But the period system does prevent level grinding somewhat. There are some place where the enemies are unlimited and you can level up to your hearts content but you can't visit a place over and over again 9 times in a row and still expect to reach all your goals.(What I mean by this is getting into a dungeon and leaving into the world map multiply times.)
-The battle system is probably whats going for it. True its turn based but when its your turn you can decide who gets to attack. (Like who gets to attack first, should they attack simultaneously, or separate.) Even when it's the opponent's turn if you learned "counter" your characters have the option of cutting off the opponents attacks and with "counter combo" you can sometimes counter multiple times.(Only archers and warriors can learn counter.)
-The story and gameplay isn't linear. There are three endings and the game doesn't drag your hand through the game so you can screw up really easily and miss the A ending. The story is full there isn't that many loose gaps, I mean this is where the game really excels at. But there is sometimes too much story you get to watch all the death scenes of all your recruits and sometimes they get really boring to the point where you are like "just die already"
-Probably the best ported game yet , but there should have been a quick save option.
-Overall its a kick ass rpg that needs to be played. It doesn't matter if it is the original or the remake you need to play it.
