The third and last game by cult game studio Troika (Temple of Elemental Evil, Arcanum), whose games, including this one, still enjoy a huge fan following, which results in unoffcial updates still being released up to this day (imagine that !). Vampire Bloodlines is a great game with goth-punk oozing out of all pores, I bought an extra piece of garlic when I went to the supermarket yesterday. The gameplay resembles KOTOR, just think modern day Vampires. The graphics are great (Half Life 2 engine), the game features several clans (****s), ability trees (except the odd Vampire Skill here and there), multiple endings, non-linear gameplay, alternative solutions to the quests and so forth. The game sports some interesting concepts such as the need to still you hunger for blood every now and then. Many people seem to be put off by the "average" rating the game got from so many reviews, but keep in mind that thegame has by now been patched up to version 6.1 (!), which translates to: no more bugs, great gameplay. Another good thing about this game is the fact that you do not get experience "simply" for killing people (although you have to at some point), but for completing quest, AND the more creative your solution, the more experience point you get, that is true RPG gaming there. The game can be quite raunchy and gritty at times, which is a good thing (I caught a couple at a Blowjob behind a church, wtf ?). The game also has one of the creepiest missions I have ever tackled in the game. Go pick it up, and if you happen to be scared to **** in the "haunted hotel", think of me :-)
