A fun 2D shooter that's also 3D =/

This is probably my favourite game for Nintendo's unloved virtual reality console. It is basically a top-down old school style shooter but with two plain's to fight on. Press A, and you'll go down onto a lower level.
Another interesting thing about this game is the AI drones. You can pick them up to aid you in battle, and you can command them using the right D-pad. You can order them to fight on the opposite level to you or even tell them to retreat from battle when their health is critical. This adds a lot of depth to the game.
The graphics aren't exactly awful, but they're not great either. The cut scenes between levels look pretty nice, but the sprites in-game aren't exactly what I'd call crystal clear.
The music in the game is apt. It suits the games well. I love the music on the first level. The music generally has this old school sci-fi feel to the game.
This game shines when it comes to simple, addictive gameplay. It uses a worn formula, but takes advantage of the Virtual Boy's unique capabilities and adds the AI drones to create something original.
