I first played Vexx after seeing countless ads for it and a lot of commericals. I was excited. "Sweet, a dark-toned platformer!" When I bought it, I nearly broke the disk in two! This game is horribly done. you have Vexx, a teenager . . . thing that is equipped with over 10 moves that are all impossible to master and two war talons. The talon are sharp looking, but they don't do squat. When you attack, a large aura-covered blade comes out of nowhere. You have dozens of enemies to take down, each of them horribly designed and the creatures called the Grimkins are just a cheap enemy based on those large headed aliens. Vexx's mission is simple, find all the Wraithhearts and kill Dark Yabu. Well, you have find 100 little orbs to obtain a Wraithheart and about 20 soul jars to get another heart. First of all, good luck finding them all. The first level is nearly unbeatable because of this collecting scheme. The controls are terrible, since the game has cramming all these moves and attacks that Vexx can perform into one controller. Don't think that Vexx is as bad ass as they say he is. He is pathetic. He is just a troubled emo who needs to rip out his own throat with those talons and end up with the videogame wash ups like Duke Nukem and Gex. The graphics are poor and the sound effects are . . . bad, that is all I can tell you. There is also this large Sumo-like boss you need to fight who appears in an arena-like platform in every level. I played this game long enough just to look for those damn orbs and soul jabs, but became impatient of the stupidly large levels. You would think that a large level would be cool, with a map maybe. But you are left to do some boring running around, killing rapidly respawning enemies, and finding secret areas and hidden bosses, but that is not going to give you a wraithheart, that will just give you stress. This game is stupid as all hell. Unless you have a lot of patience and a lot of time on your hands, this game is late for its time and personally, it shouldn't have been made.
