How about an update to restore all the content that was cut to get the game released in time for Christmas?

@Kisaka: That mod is already on the Steam Workshop, the functionality of which was also added to KotOR2 when they did the update.

It's funny, years ago everyone hated on kotor II, saying it wasn't near as good as the orginal kotor, and I said, no you are wrong man, they are both good!.. now everyone thinks kotor II is amazing.. smh

@masscrack: I always kinda waffled back and forth on it. I liked 2's earlier-on story better, but after the time constraints become apparent 1 overtakes it by far. 1's party characters I like more than their counterparts (where there is a direct counterpart, in any case). 2's perks, feats, and such blow 1's out of the water, and I think the implementation of them was done better in 2 as well. Both games pretty much failed the LS/DS effects to powers completely; it was way too easy to use powers from the opposing alignment with barely any penalty. The armor restrictions were more effective a restriction system than the LS/DS points.

Those are at least the things that always came to mind when I pondered over it.

@masscrack: "Every good book is written for a particular reader and men of his stamp, and for that very reason is looked upon unfavorably by all other readers, by the vast majority. Its reputation accordingly rests on a narrow basis and must be built up by degrees." - This is KotOR II.

"The mediocre and bad book is mediocre and bad because it seeks to please, and does please, a great number." - This is the first game.

I remember when I was a weee babe that I always wondered how would it honestly feel to be trained as a jedi and to have a master. This game is the only one to get close to put that relationship into a narrative and gameplay aspect that was felt beyond motivating the story's development. kotor 1 was a reskinned star wars trilogy which was great and had good traditional sw storytelling but kotor 2 stands out way more because of its framing of the force, the ravaged republic, a broken jedi order, a collapsing sith order and its people being demoralized, selfish and grey not purely good or evil. Kreia is the only mentor character in a sw game that actually lives up to the role by not being a "hey im your master, I prompt the missions because video games and get good. Thats how I teach by doing nothing" garbage and clearly tries to teach a philosophy that can spill into the game that rewards you in a few interesting ways for following the teachings. I remember doing an entire playthrough by following her advice and its great how slow and subtle it takes to get into the dark side and the perks I earned out of them. You'll notice you weren't playing like a complete monster you were just selfish which seems to be a more grounded way to show how that fall would happen. Jolee in Kotor 1 is suppose to be that role but its very empty simply because the story already montaged their way out of needing him to be that way. Why would you as a player need a master when you literally see a montage of you blazing through your training and every force sensitive jedi or sith strokes your ego and calls you amazing. It kills me how little this amazing element within the star wars universe is explored in video games.

I hope future SW rpg games get developed and approaches the master apprentice aspect with tell tale level of dialogue and scripting but with actual consequences that affects the game way more dramatically.

I had prayed for bioware to make a kotor3. after DAI I am glad they didnt.

would be vast empty landscapes with a dumbed down leveling system, no choices or consequences but a well written ga y waifu simulator

But it had more choice/consequence than Origins and 2 combined?

@SythisTaru: origins and 2 had choices that lead to consequences. be it what your forces were, characters story arcs or who lives and dies.

3 had nooooothig. regardless what you do nothing changes. same prerendered end scene. no force changes. no story arcs. nothing. even companion quests were irrelevant and existed in their own little bubble and dont get me started on useless castle upgrades

There need to be more Star Wars adventure/RPGs in development. I think Battlefront is great, but it is literally all we SW fans have to look forward to. I was crushed when they canceled Star Wars: 1313

I wish they did a patch to fix the the story at the end of the game, that would be so cool to finally have it completed. It's way better than KOTOR 1, such a shame they had to rush it out and not get it done.

@stev69: that opinion. I dont see how this is better than it though. Other than the fact that in 50 years you can likely still play Kotor but its unlikely the servers will still be up for Swtor... and its nice that it has a different story, but that barely means anything. Not saying story is bad or anything but alot of games in the same series tend to have different stories.

I get more to explore, more to do, fun to be had with a friend maybe 2, in swtor and i see it as a better game. the old game is good in its own right but swtor has more to it, more stories, more characters, more friends, more to do. To each their own, i never seen why people didnt like swtor but to each their own.

@sithalo: well, everyone I talk to tell me the same story. KOTOR MMO, the first week was amazing!, they LOVED it, but after they started to level slower and slower and got less and less story bits, they all just quit the game, many of my friends reached the end game, and fund it had little to no content. HUGE impressive beautiful city maps with little to nothing in it.

SO MUCH RUNNING!

and this was around 1 year AFTER release.

how the game is now I have no idea. I reached the end game before any of the expansions, played for around 1 month and never wanted to pick it up again.

does the game have good elements?.. sure but its NOT the MMO part that is good about it.

@Etagloc: yeh running is annoying and so is the grind to level up but in alot of rpg games ive played thats how it is. takes forever to get from one place to another (especially with random encounters) and leveling up is fast at first but then takes a while to actually level up, and cities tend to be interesting places that have a quest or story in them but there hardly anything actually in them beyond that. doing side quest give story bits just not main story bits and from rpgs it tends to be the side quests you spend your time playing to level up your character.

compared to a number of other rpgs ive played its about the same. lots of walking, lots of leveling, lots of side questing, and cities that are nice to see but have nothing really to do in them.

@Maj_Wood: why are you telling me that? none of what you said has any relevance to me or what i said. you are putting words in my mouth and making assumptions about what i do based on what i said.

its simi true that first and formost that a game should be mostly fun but there has to be some grinding and work or you could just jump to the highest level of anything and just finish the game with no trouble at all. fun and grinding should go hand in hand in rpg style games.

and it depends on the game and the players. some players play minecraft in creative to build massive things and get gratification from that, some play in survival and build large things and get gratification for that. Some play sims and just cheat to get unlimited money while others put their sims to work for it. some people prefer to put more work into something in a game and thats how they have fun.

nothing i said has to do with console gaming... there are a ton of rpgs on consoles that work the same way i said. there are a ton of rpgs on pcs that work the way i said. thats just like people who randomly post that "(current news story) is all Obamas fault" just because they dislike him. you dislike consoles, nothing i said had to do with consoles so you decided everything i said was because i was a console gamer and that console gamers want instant gratification and hand holding when thats not true at all. some would like instant grat, some would like hand holding, some just want to work for their success. the same can be said for pc gamers. some want hand holding some want instant gratification and some want to work for it. if console gamers just wanted hand holding and instant rewards and all that then games like skyrim, fallout, borderlands, warframe, ect wouldnt exist and be popular on consoles as they have been.

i said nothing at all that implied someone wanted hand holding. most games shouldnt hold your hand the whole way but a lil start up is useful in a good number of games especially with people new to a series. games made for little kids could hold their hand for a good bit of it to help them along and games made for older gamers dont always need that sorta help but a good lil hint or a tutorial section are not bad for games.

ive put in a ton of time in a number of games working in them and not cheating at them. i was not saying its bad that that is how rpg games are... a good rpg balances all those things. the grind of getting better at skills or leveling up with new things like stuff to make/find/skills. missions and quests that provide adequate xp rewards so you can move on from one to another and are not just stuck killing/gathering for a long period of time to level up.

cities are hard to get right. alot of stuff goes into a making a city in an rpg. and some cities do not need alot of stuff. in most rpgs there is a store to buy gear and heal in a city and its a hub for quest. you dont play cards or go racing in city after city after city or things like that in most rpgs. its not a bad thing. more detail and small stuff like that is nice but its not bad to not have them in their.

ive been gaming on pc for longer than any of the consoles i current have. besides some games i can only get on consoles or mobiles. Cant find earth defense force 2025 on pc, cant get monster hunter on pc. if i want to play a game i can only play on my ps3 then i have no choice but to play it there. if i want to play a game i can only play on my 3ds i have no choice but to play it there. same goes for pc gaming. if i want to play starcraft i have to play it on my pc. if i want to play dreamfall i have to play it on my pc.

im sorry that you dont know how to give a nice or logical counterpoint.

you really think gameing is about hard work?.
gameing is first a foremost about haveing fun.

I work enough in my real life I don't to go home and do a boring grind in the game I want to play.

@SphinxDemon: nothing beat WoW back then, no game has the same amount of players. this game was released released in WoW's prime (a simple google search will confirm this)

this is not a question about what you or I liked, but about what the general MMO population liked back then.

AND that was WoW 100%

LOL it is not a good thing, that was sarcasm. Why is SW: TOR half-baked? Play it and you'll see. It's in-between PVP/PVE/MMO/P2W/F2P/B2P/Single Player. The game has no idea what it wants to be and now they will just give you 12x XP and pre-set characters...

This is excellent, I bought it on Steam again few months ago.

Just about to leave Telos in my latest playthrough, this gives me a wonderful incentive to play it again. Still one of my absolute favorite games and imho the best Star Wars game.
