Well, all I can say is that the Alien story was good, if not awesome up until alien 3, so it pleases the hell out of me that SEGA is bring it back to the part we all love the most.

the Aliens action/thriller part of the second movie where the CM was introduced.

I doubt they can make anything that's not been already done in another AVP game. On top of that, the explosions look pretty bad (look up the opening scenes in the footage), ands the animations are bad and jerky(1:12, look at your fellow marine -that animation is VERY bad. Looks like Counter Strike models). Still, it's Alien vs Predator universe, which I'm a big fan of -so they got me, no matter what

@kingnothing47 How about by removing the amazing advancements in game mechanics that were talked about 4 years ago, when the pre-alpha stage of the game looked better than this. I'm not saying this will be a bad game, rather, it will just be another glorified shooter, bringing no new elements to the table like was originally planned. If you can get your hands on the 2008 GI where it talked about A:CM, read about it. It sounded amazing then, it just looks okay now. Still, I have waited 4 years for this, and I will buy it, or at least rent it and give it a shot. Gearbox still has plenty of time for improvement.

Well that's good you're keeping an open mind about it :) and who knows maybe they're just choosing to show the worst segments of the game, or using a very inexperienced player to demo the game. It would be wonderful to see a different take on the Aliens story (for there is only one) but as you said that's probably a pipedream, more or less. Eh bien, rien à foutre.

@bane11 Alien³ is bad. Terrible, in fact. Thanks to FOX. Alien³ - The Assembly Cut, on the otherhand, is a flawed masterpiece and follows the original script to the letter. Very daring and very profound, tons of symbolism. Stylistically breathtaking, beautiful sets, deep characters, a brilliant cast, near-flawless acting, a very elegant alien creature and Elliot Goldenthal's most avantgarde score ever composed.

"Canon", means following the official story, when something is "canon" it is officially part of the overall story of the fictional world. Not canon means it is not officially recognised as part of the real story (sometimes this is considered an alternate reality type storyline).

Instead of making a smart horror game within the Alien universe, they make a dumb shooter where the creatures are no match against Private Herp Derp. And the sad thing is that it'll sell like the cure for cancer.The truth is that Aliens: Colonial Marines isn't cannon. It's a spin-off, just like abysmal Alien Resurrection. Ellen Ripley sacrificed herself in order to save humanity in the nihilistic work of art that is Alien 3 (Assembly Cut) and that's the end of it.

While I recognize the point you're making (I hate the stream of mainstream run and gun cod clones on the market) Alien was really the only horror film in the series. Cameron's Aliens was a glorified action movie, and it was a very visceral and entertaining movie to watch. Gearbox appears to be attempting to emulate that manic sensationalism but retain some of Ridley Scott's macabre atmosphere. I'm looking forward to this game, however I do respect your opinion and my own hubris doesn't blind me from the valid points you made. If you think it will offend you by all means avoid it

@kingnothing47 I just wish some creative thought was put into the video game spin-offs. Tired of games forcing me to shoot stuff. Imagine how cool a true Alien survival horror game would be... No weapons, only one full-grown alien creature stalking the crew of a space ship. Solving smart environmental puzzles (with multiple sollutions) to escape or trap/lure the alien into specific parts of the ship and multiple endings depending on how many crew members survive the ordeal... But no, instead Gearbox chose to please sideways baseball cap-wearing Jason with yet another run & gun approach to the franchise... Still, I won't be avoiding CM because thank science there's still a used games market. But I most certainly do not buy into their whole 'It's cannon'-PR stunt.

i thinks its cannon becasuse the game dosent really have anything to do with the movies except for background and enviroment. they are going back to investigate what happened after the terraformer blow up cause they dont know what happened. ripley and every one else isnt gonna be in this game except for maybe the top half of that android. also the rest of the universe dont know what happened on the planet cause the ship got messed up or something like that. its not a spin off. the story is what the rest of the universe is suddenly doing when a clonial marine ship goes dark and they need to investgate this isnt a spin off. alien vs Predator thats a spinoff. this could be considered like a wide picture epilouge

Nope....sorry mate. Alien 3 was just a dream Ripley had in Hypersleep. Ripley, Hicks and Newt all returned to earth and lived happily ever after......No way Hicks died in a POD crash....

@wezkilla Sweet Jesus!! AvP (the newish one) was the worse pile of shite I have ever had the misfortune of playing.

Yea it was pretty but it stunk. Bad. Multi-player kill trains. No custom matches - ie preds vs aliens only, humans vs preds etc. NO CLASSES?! No updated maps from AvP2. How, after AvP2 defined awesome multiplayer they can ship that garbage... Shitty maps and clunky controls - esp as the pred and alien. I was gutted. But then again, it was made by Rebellion. And look at their back catalogue.

Playing AvP2 where you can be a face hugger in multiplayer is amazing fun. They had a chance to do something different but instead made a generic FPS. Did I mention KILL TRAINS??! Arggggh!
