Fall is very much here and as the nights start to draw in, there's plenty of new TV and movie content hitting Amazon Prime in October. New seasons for two of Amazon's highest profile shows arrive this month, with Season 3 of the dystopian sci-fi drama The Man in the High Castle and the second season of the anthology mystery Lore premiering. Season 3 of Mr. Robot also arrives, and it's something of a return to form after a lacklustre Season 3.
In terms of new movies, You Were Never Really Here arrives on October 26. It's a dark, intense psychological thriller starring Joaquin Phoenix--to be seen next year in the Joker prequel--directed by Lynn Ramsey and with a stunning score from Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood. Spike Lee's highly acclaimed BlacKKKlansman will also be available from October 23; the movie combines searing social commentary and hugely entertaining comedy thrills and is one of the year's best.
There are also some outstanding older movies arriving too. Stanley Kubrick's classic Vietnam movie Full Metal Jacket is now available. It's a savage, gripping war film with stand-out performances--and in the month that Daredevil Season 3 arrives on Netflix, it's fascinating to see the young Vincent D'Onofrio's unforgettable early performance as Private Pyle. There's also Paul Verhoeven's spectacular sci-fi satire Starship Troopers, in which a team of young recruits face down an army of brain-eating giants alien bugs.
