The Avengers are preparing to go to war with Thanos (Josh Brolin) in their biggest challenge yet--one some of them will likely not survive--and it's all over a bunch of rocks. So what exactly makes the stones in Avengers: Infinity War so valuable?
The Infinity Stones, when brought together, would give Thanos the power to wipe out half of the universe. On their own, though, these six gems are still pretty powerful--whether it's the mind stone and it's telekinetic abilities or the time stone's power of time travel. In fact, the mind stone even powers Vision (Paul Bettany).
Thus far, each of them has been introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, save for the soul stone. That's the wild card heading into Infinity War. Whether it will be introduced or saved for Avengers 4 remains to be seen. However, whenever it does arrive, it can only bring bad news for the Avengers.
