Baldur's Gate 3 Possibly Coming From Divinity Original Sin Dev - GS News Update

Baldur's tease.

Larian Studios, developer of Divinity: Original Sin and Original Sin 2, has a "III" logo displayed on its website. The site's metadata suggests this logo represents Baldur's Gate 3. It's possible the RPG may be announced at E3 2019, though the logo could also represent a third Divinity game.

I don't think they're doing BG3. They might be, but it would kinda be weird to have two competing isometric fantasy rpg series. Also, it would be a giant FU to Beamdog who've spent years remastering and rebuilding the old Black Isle D&D games, even creating good content of their own, and who've clearly been interested in doing BG3 since day one. I still think it just ends up being DOS3.

I have my doubts, since several companies have tried to make a "Baldur's Gate III" in the past, and none saw the light of day.

And like, Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal pretty much made the PC a god, where could you go from there?

Unless you decided to look into the instability created in the aftermath of the Bhaalspawn War, and the Time of Troubles...

@anwensnowmew Yeah Baldur's Gate refers to the city, not necessarily the character. It could take place at any time and start you as a new character at level 1. Although Black Isles planned BG3 did take place after BG2 and you were the same character, I believe. I'd have to google the specifics.:

I would love a remake on console of the first two! Or just a port! They are on ps2 from what I remember. They have to make it deep and fully voiced! Even divinity had just a tad bit too much reading for me.

@papapico619 They aren't on PS2, that was an action rpg spin-off. The originals have been remastered by a company called Beamdog, and a console release might not be out of the cards. That's part of what makes this so weird. Why wouldn't Beamdog be doing BG3? I still think it's just a decoy and it's gonna be DOS3.:

Would be nice if they make the next Dragon Age game in the spirit of Origins with their take on the RPG genre. Bigger sprites with more in your face interaction with NPCs would make their games much more immersive.

@streamline It would be nice, but that was independent Bioware. That company is long gone. EA's Bioware has little to do with that original crew anymore. That and there's roughly a 0.00001% chance that EA is going to fund an isometric single player rpg.:
