Tis the season to stay inside and binge on some streaming movies and shows. We're now about halfway through December, and Netflix has tons of new releases coming this month to keep you busy and warm as you wrap your holiday gifts and drink your cocoa. Beyond that, we've also learned what January 2019 releases Netflix has in store.
The biggest movie of the year is coming on Christmas Day. Avengers: Infinity War will hit on December 25, letting you catch up before Captain Marvel and Avengers 4--now known as Endgame--releases this spring. Just be ready for a very dark movie, given that this one leaves a massive cliffhanger for next year's films to resolve.
Other offerings this month include the dark comedy The Lobster, starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz. It's a surreal look at love and dating with a supernatural element at play. It's available as of December 2. Then on December 7, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle hit. The dark adaptation of the Jungle Book was directed by Andy Serkis, known for his motion capture performances in movies like Lord of the Rings and Planet of the Apes.
For something completely different, check out the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter's Tale, which is available as of December 14. It takes the spooky Sabrina reboot and injects some winter solstice cheer. Also now available is Roma from Alfonso CuarĂ³n, the winner of the Venice film festival. Netflix original film Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock premieres on December 21.
If you're in the mood for some anime, check out Baki on December 18 or Sirius the Jaeger on December 21. Finally, Netflix is wrapping up the year with a documentary about the incomparable Bill Murray. The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned From a Mythical Man premieres on December 31.
