Beyond: Two Souls Gameplay Examined

Another heavy hitter franchise coming, this is definitely a great Year for the PS3 , Now I feel prouder than before for having such great console.....

ill just wait for this on ps4.. it will definitely be out next year. GTA5 will be my last ps3 game.

30 minutes! .... i wish i had the time to watch this :(

I am concerned that the survival/horror aspect may rely on startling the player and making them apprehensive about being surprised rather than crating a tense atmosphere. I hope that the survival/horror aspect is more focused on the Alfred Hitchcock style of creating a tense atmosphere in which you don't actually see your enemy for quite some time, and when you do it is not in a sudden and startling way, but more of a revealing way that actually relieves the tension. In the meantime you are not startled, but rather the tension and desire to see the enemy builds up so much that your nerves get shot just waiting to see this enemy that has been stalking you and playing with you for quite some time. Not trying to frighten you or subdue you, but rather just toying with you, like your fear is of so little consequence to it that it won't even bother. THAT's the kind of survival/horror I want and that I hope to see in this game.

They don't need to send in Jody to take care of paranormal mishaps. They need the ghost busters. One suck and Aiden (sp?) is gone.

@19:15, at the elevator scene, I was half hoping for a Jody vs Alma showdown.

Omg the pics highlighted at the main page of this article made me think for a second that Justin Bieber is in it. Talk about a turn off. lol

I like what I'm seeing. I really enjoyed Heavy Rain. It will be interesting to see what improvements have been made control-wise. Especially if we can walk just using the analog stick instead of having to use a button along with the analog stick. I thought that was a bit ridiculous.

I like the fact that a lot of people here answer to those who aren't interested in the game with "CoD's that way", no matter how legit the reasons they give as to why they don't like what they're seeing are.

Because obviously, everyone whose opinion on an upcoming game differs from yours, no matter in which way, is a rabidly homophobic teenage boy.

It does look more like an interactive movie than a game, but that's by no means a bad thing. Just the fact that it's playable makes it a whole lot better. Hopefully it attracts the attention of hollywood directors and actors/actresses? Jennifer Lawrence interactive love scene anyone? It's late bye.

Also, Ellen Page is a horrible human being. I have the misfortune of sharing a hometown with her. She quite nasty in person.

the characters look just amazing, but the enviroments are meh....imagine this game on better hardware with better shading, higher quality aa and higher resolution textures, it would be reality!!!!

Here's what I think based off the videos I've seen on this game.

Eidon isn't the only entity. But I bet most people in the game don't know this and starts blaming Jodie and Eidon for the trouble these other entities cause. That's probably why in that one gameplay scene you see the police going after her. The other entity(s) is smashing it up and poor Eidon is getting the blame for it. In fact, Jodie may even believe Eidon is responsible for some bad stuff and perhaps goes too far, which would create some internal conflict/drama with the primary characters.

There will probably be a detective or some kind of character like William Defoe that may start believing Jodie's pleas for innocence, and you'll play with him and work on helping Jodie from the other side.

Anyway, that's my theory on the plot for this game. By the way, I'm a huge Heavy Rain fan and think Cage is making the gaming industry more dynamic. Let me also add that I play Call of Duty, sports, adventure, fighting, puzzle, rpg, every sort of genre of gaming you can think of. I just like games, and like to see Cage bring something different to the table. :)

Not quite the big leap in game play I was (probably unrealistically) expecting from Heavy Rain, which in itself offered a natural evolution from Fahrenheit. I'm beginning to guess that there is no perfect way to do this. Fahrenheit was fun but it actually stopped you from enjoying the scene as a whole. Heavy Rain bettered it in the sense it placed the commands in the centre of the screen and kept them small so you could feel part of it. I do like the idea no commands are on screen when movements are necessary though. Helps dissolve the third wall of what they are doing.

With any luck, Mr Cage's storytelling will have improved significantly because, for me, those were the weakest aspects of the two aforementioned games (Fahrenheit falls apart like a Bruckheimer blockbuster whereas Heavy Rain is just swimming with illogicality throughout). Glad he is in the industry though making games like this. Quantic Dreams/Naughty Dog/Rockstar/Irrational Games... companies like these I can get behind and feel safe giving money to.

This game looks damn good. Ellen Page makes it even better.

I don't vote his game with my wallet, since I don't own PS3.

Heavy Rain was good enough for me to give this game a shot.

Second thoughts as I reach further along in the video, they seem to be doing a FEW things right here, although the scripted action controls are still basically a "wrap" around the basic framework from Heavy Rain. Nothing wrong with that! And the subtle changes could actually go some way in capturing certain game audiences that were turned off by Heavy Rain. But I just can't digest the hyperbole that comes out of that studio sometimes.

So the whole "spirit that the girl can't control" is an elaborate ruse to enable "direct control" of the character....

I'm fine with gameplay gimmicks, I'm fine with games like this and Heavy Rain that occupy a specific niche in the industry. As games, I've loved what Quantic Dream has put out.

What I kinda have issue with is talking big, and following that up with little gimmicks....

The concept is undeniably interesting, and the presentation values are great (looking much better than Heavy Rain), but I really hope they get beyond the user-guided movie experience that Heavy Rain was.

can there be a scene where ellen page has sex with Willem Defoe only to smash his genitals with a rock? i'd love to see the facial animations for THAT scene...seriously i would. antichrist game anyone??

I was thinking the same. This is more of survival horror than any actual survival horror game in a long time. Can't wait. Probably the last PS3 game I'm going to buy.

No disrespect but Heavy rain put me to sleep. I haven't followed this game at all is it going to follow the same formula or is it actually a completely new gameplay experience?
