A classic bullshit lawsuit, makes me get all teary-eyed and wanting to sing the star spangled banner. Plus the clip of Vice City reminded me of how good that game was. And that great voice acting.

On the story about the psychic lawsuit on GTA: Vice City. Did I hear you right? She voiced a character in GTA: Vice City, but they claim there was another character in the same game that looked like her? Seems you referenced the game twice in your news story...?

My first reaction in seeing the clips of the game was to go see when it was released? Oct 2002. I gotta say, those graphics seemed so old to me that I couldn't see how anyone could look like anyone with that (lack of) level of detail.

Goodness, we've come far in 15 years. Plus, they are filing a lawsuit now, 15 years later? Looks like an attempt to just shake the money tree. I seem to recall Lindsay Lohan pulling the same stunt years ago...

@Louis: Got to love that they claim to have spent $100 million on the creation/marketing of 'Miss Cleo'. The ads look like they were filmed in someone's creepy basement for a few dollars.

@BondSense: Actually, that's a great argument for Rockstar's defense team. "Prove you spent that amount, when the end product looks like this..."

I hope when they lose that they also have to pay Rockstar's bills.

@Louis: It's really confusing, I've linked the writeup below but it boils down to this. Rockstar had a character in Vice City that was voiced by Miss Cleo and was, most probably, based loosely on her. Now a company in charge of the rights to Miss Cleo is saying the game used her likeness without permission.

Have a read of the story by Eddie Makuch, it's a really interesting one.

@dancrowd: Thanks for the link. Helped to read it vs "listening" just due to the confusing nature of the claim.

Maybe they are claiming, 'Rockstar you paid her to play Auntie Poulet, but that was not enough money as we "all know" she's really playing (no matter the name change) Miss Cleo, so you should have paid more?'

Which ignores the fact that a contract was made 15 years ago. Plus, it's standard practice in a created world of a game to rename the character for the game-world so as to not take the player out of the story. Having real-world characters involved is a fun tongue-in-cheek moment.

Anyways, I can't see this going anywhere. Just an attempt to grab easy money. Good for Rockstar in fighting it.

Thanks for your follow up. I had not seen Eddie's original article.
