I felt the same about the Doom 3 BFG remaster's change about the flashlight thing, until i played it. It just made the game a bit faster. It would have been nice to have the option to choose, however...

We will never know, because we will never get a remaster that changes too much in this industry the audience hates innovation or change.

Remasters are exactly that a remaster of the original. I think some are confusing the term with remakes. Really should be a bump in graphics and fps. Including all the DLC is also great, but to ask for new content would be pushing it.

@computernoises: I wish Bethesda would have remastered Morrowind. They would have made a fortune because so many Skyrim fans have never played it before. It would have been a brand new experience for so many gamers.

@computernoises: It's from 2002. I just downloaded it from Steam since I haven't played it in over ten years and I'm enjoying it a lot more now that I know some of the lore.

At max graphic settings in 1600 x 1200 res, the backgrounds look decent. People and creatures still move like puppets but you get used to it. You train micro skills (long sword, spear, athletics, acrobatics, etc.) and spend a lot of time on foot without quick travel, which can be a grind when you're relentlessly under attack by small animals along the way.

But overall it's the deepest Elder Scrolls game and you feel like your actions really do matter. You can easily sense the hatred towards you from some of the NPC's. Speaking of which...it's possible to kill pretty much all of them, even quest-critical ones (even when they're your own companions). You don't see that in Skyrim.

@computernoises: Even Oblivion would be great as well.

FF7 Remake is a great example of being too much. It's now an entirely different experience. Yes, I know it's not a remaster.

Skyrim Special Edition is pretty much the same experience. Some visuals can change the overall experience you have with the atmosphere, that includes sound.

@Gaming-Planet: We haven't even got the game yet and very little is known about it. I'm not sure it's fair to slate it on the basis of being an episodic experience. Best to wait and see rather than being negative already.

@gotrekfabian: Not saying a different experience is a bad thing. Sorry, if I wasn't clear about that.

@Gaming-Planet: No worries.

We really don't know how close or far away from the original experience it will be at all though. Some are staying that it will be active battle but there are signs of an ATB system in the teaser as well. It may be that you can play it either way and so I think we need to wait a while and see if it lives up to the original. If they turn it into a Telltale game with a little combat they know they will upset the fans and I don't believe they want to do that.
