FIFA 19 Vs. PES 2019 - Which Is Best For You? | Versus

FIFA 19 Vs. PES 2019 - the annual grudge match has once again rolled around, but which one is better?

It's that time of the year again where two of the biggest football video games in the industry are pit against each other. With every new iteration of FIFA and PES, fans of football games are forced to pledge their allegiances to one or the other, and picking between them is a much harder task than you might think. On the one hand, EA's FIFA 19 has all the official licenses, making it the go to for those looking for an authentic broadcast experience. However, Konami's PES 2019 has shown big improvements when it comes to gameplay, thanks in large part to the increased physicality. Given that this decision effectively means investing in one or the other for an entire year, until the next entries in the series roll around, fans scrutinise both games intensely. And that's exactly what we're doing in this episode of Versus, in which Oscar Dayus and Adam Mason discuss the merits of both titles. Both Oscar and Adam have spent a great deal of time playing the games and are well placed to talk about them. However, you can also give our PES 2019 review a read for a more in-depth analysis of Konami's title. GameSpot is currently putting FIFA 2019 through its paces and will have a review in the near future. In the mean time you can watch some Survival Mode gameplay.

Seems like every year the same. FIFA is for football fans, and PES is for gamers.

Played over 2500 hours of PES in the last years the platform to go to is PS4 for PES no cheaters free mods works wonders, had a bad experience with PES 18 on PC and i remind you all i got up too 630 hours on steam my most game played but the cheaters and laggers / crasher ruined the game for me and i said no more i cant admit cheaters and crasher with no penalty/ban system still managed top 100 in the end.

This year i switched over to FIFA and its licences and general game modes are way superior specialy the build quality of the game , for me PES will always be the ultimate football simulator but i cant support cheaters that literally crash your game and makes you lose rating while you are winning the game, playing FIFA 19 for now while being a part of a amateur esports team witch is supported by me and the local club, couldnt recommend nothing else you want PES go PS4 never think about other platform for PES, you want FIFA you got a completely good vibe community played 8 days earlier with the guys from origin acess premier great.

Hey. Long-time PES & Fifa player here. I reckon this year is the most fascinating comparison we've had, because the two are closer than ever in quality terms - they're both amazing, but in very different ways. For me, PES still has the edge for smoothness of gameplay. The passing and the player movement is just beautiful, as are the graphics. The bump up from 2018 is probably the biggest graphical leap you'll see without moving up a console generation.

It's just not that much fun though, somehow. Fifa is. For all Fifa's animations are strangely unnatural - they seem hurried, in a weird way - and the whole thing seems a bit frantic, and lacks PES's sense of heft, it's an altogether more satisfying, bombastic game experience.

Plus, whatever you think about EA, it does know how to make a menu work properly. I'm looking at you, Konami. :-D

Come on man can you journalists make an effort to not say the word like every other word. You collectively say 'like' 14 times in 1 minute from 1:18 to 2:18.

Its ridiculous.

@donjuancorleone: Is it more of a new generation kind of thing? You know these teenage girls that say 'like' every other word. Maybe they try to sound like Kim Kardashian?

But yeah, I wouldn't expect to hear it from professional journalists.

For me its PES. I can see that for some it may be harder to get into as the controls are not basic, but when you get better it's really rewarding.

FIFA definitely has the Polish and licensing, but for me its less important as I play the myteam mode where it's not important at all.
