@ snake3rules OMG, are you serious? The story has been the biggest part of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. I bet you're one of those gamers who only care about graphics. Oh by the way Hideo Kojima is a God.
KOJIMA is the best METAL GEAR SOLID 4 is the best third person shooter/stealth game ever and it is only possible in the PlayStation 3 console. PLAY B3YOND.
guys...it´s so sad that i still can could play MGS4!! the other ones yes but this last...noup!! here in Brazil the PS3 is sold for U$ 1100,00 approximately. How fu** is this...as sun i get my PS3...the first game i´ll buy = MGS4. Abraço a todos.
Kojima should really learn English lol... his translators always add no emotion to what he is saying, so when he uses sarcasm... no one laughs and it gets pretty awkward...
He is so right about the trend in western game design. The only game that pushes the limits as much as MGS4 is Crysis, but it needs a beast of a PC to get the experiance! Its good for the gamer, but not for their wallet!
To "snake3rules" How can you say the story was least important. Kojima intergrated the story and gameplay so the two flowed perfectly, its one of the main reasons the games are so good and so unique, because they tell a great war epic of a story and they do it in game.
there's no reason not to make another one... everyone needs to stop with the "no more after mgs4" because its stupid, and it makes you sound stupid, too ... the story was always the least important part, filled with overly long, indulgent, pretentious, and monotonous cutscenes ... and it continues to be, so who cares if the story techinically comes to "completion" ... there could be another 10 games, all in the past like mgs3... Of course, thats if its not an outright sequel, which I would prefer, frankly, as the tech and controls, features, etc in mgs4 are probably the best of any game ever. If they do anything it is needing to re-conceptualize the animations, specifically how snake moves, because for every game since the first,. he's looked like a geriatric with scoliosis... .And whether you're walking slowly or running full speed, he looks the same... And no matter how good a soldier you are, thats never true.
I think Hideo surpassed all the impossible walls, no matter how modest he is. I think that if they are to make another game so be it, if they are not to make another game so be it. Kojima has touched all of us with his games' lessons and we will remember the stories for years to come.
I agree that it is good to have originality in games but games don't need to be completely original in order to be enjoyable. You could argue that Killzone 2 is not original but it certainly improves a lot from the games it copies such as Call of Duty 4, especially graphically but its sound is also amazing.
He is right about the new type of game development, which is Tech based Game Development and these are games that are in my opinion un-original and don't seem to have a higher level of quality as games that are made with the Designer Driven game Development. Games like this are Crysis and Tom Clancy's End War which are good games don't get me wrong but they seem Unoriginal and the only thing that is making them good games is their technology. Kojima's Designer Driven game design is a type of development in which it tries to Revolutionize the Genre the game is placed in. For Example Resident Evil 4 recreated the way we play shooters now with its Over the Shoulder 3rd person view Camera Style, now notice there are not many 3rd person shooters without this. Another Example is Gears of War's simple Cover system. My point now is I'm noticing more and more games today being developed with this Technology Based Game design and dwindling number of Designer Driven Game Design and I hope that this does not continue.
Watched the entire thing, how amazing is all that, really. In this day and age anyone facing those limitations would've given up on the spot, but working around the problems he was able to deliver one of the most memorable series in video gaming history. It's sad to know that game development standards have fallen so much in 15 years. Thank you Kojima
anybody notice that it is not snake standing beyond the 'next mgs' barrier, that it is Raiden. Are we going to see Metal Gear May Cry or Ninja Gear, o i f@uckin hope so. only other thing i can think of being that he has teased games that will sell more in the west is a squad shooter with Rat Patrol (who were very blatantly shown to be perfect for that type of game in mgs4)
The more the series progressed, the more the gameplay and story-telling was fine-tuned... that is how you develop a series. Another good point about this kind of development, is that others can actually pick up with what you left, without having to start from scratch, then add their own ideas. With Kojima stating that he doesn't plan on retiring anytime soon, I think we will see these progressions in game development for a long time.
this is amazing, the way he made the game and the process he developed through the years to make this game more and more realistic. this is the ultimate stealth game ever made.
