I wish the removal of Kojima's name would backfire on their face really hard, like Konami selling a lot less because it doesn't have Kojima's name.

It won't happen, I'll still wish it, though.

I liked Prototype 1 when it came out for the PS3, but didn't care as much for the second one. Didn't even finish it in fact. You can still get both games on PlayStation Store for the PS3. $20 for P1 and $40 for P2. If the PS4 remasters come bundled together for $60 or less it might be worth it for people who never played them.

I wonder just how much of Konami's influence is in this game.

These companies can bring as many remastered games as they want, but I still want to see awesome new games.

Wasn't Prototype last gen? Isn't it supposed to be HD already? How's it an "HD Remaster"? I get improving visuals, but I thought the term was for PS2 and prior gen, you know, where things weren't HD.

Also, screw Konami. I don't know what started this spat between them and Kojima, but from what's been released, they're coming off like children that are trying to snub Kojima in his (supposed) farewell game to the series.

@DFBTG:

Well it's the same as Gears of War, God of War or The Last of Us Remaster, you remaster it from 720p to 1080p, usually from 30fps to 60fps as well. On PC it was already capable of this, but not on consoles.

About Konami and Kojima Productions, I agree they are coming off as really provoking and petting, but there's gotta be some legal reasons and complications behind it. Still taking off the studio's name (not just the Hideo Kojima name) - is too much. Taking off his name from the cover is breaking with tradition. Surely his name would be in the credit, but they are going a bit too far.

There was a team of guys, working hard for years on this project, they will release one of the greatest games of all time, maybe the best of them - and you take away their credit and cover it up with your name?

Konami are producers, not developers..

@GunEye:

Well, makes some sense then. I'm wondering if next gen will see remasters into 4K at this rate.

I imagine there is some reason, but can only go by what's been released/said. I'm not gonna lie, with all that's been going on I'm hesitant about the game. Granted, I probably would have waited for reviews and a sale regardless, but I'm not holding my breath like I was for 3&4. Still think Ground Zeroes is a glorified $30 demo.

I wish I could watch a video on this site... Also bring back the old comment system, except censoring.

konami might not want to be so militant about the beef with kojima, it could lead to a boycott by some fans. not to mention, as we all know, one guy can make or break a company. Hironobu Sakaguchi from squaresoft, capcom has not been the same without keiji inafune, namco has not been the same with out Tomonobu Itagaki.

also, as we all know bioware has lost alot of the original people and have been hit and miss (tending towards miss) lately IMO

@suppaphly42: Yea, the split of Bungie also. Most of they key members stayed behind to form 343. I think the best bungie got was the name. And that doesn't mean anything to me anymore. I'll stick with 343.

Inquisition was no witcher but it was fun. I still enjoy mass effect. The only huge fail from them was SWTOR. It never had a chance once they chose the engine. It really wasn't that bad, if they had just used a decent engine I believe it would at least have as much success as the the final fantasy mmo. Yes, their actions are going to affect them. It was day one for me and is now on the cautious wait and see and perhaps even $5 bin list.

@tyronefonsworth: I can still enjoy Mass Effect as well. They're my favorite games of last gen. ME3 wasn't anywhere close to as good as the first 2, but it's still leagues ahead of similar style games.

@suppaphly42: I hope Konami has some good reasons for it, like legal, something they kinda have to do, rather then just being jerks :). Assuming everything continues and they never "make up", I expect we'll get lots of details from Kojima a couple years from now in a tell all interview or panel discussion or something. Well, hmm, maybe that's not the Japanese way? I don't know, now I'm not so sure.

@hystavito: Good reasons for it? Maybe.

Or perhaps it's something along the lines of: "Well, you see, he really rustled our jimmies."

There was all this talk during the last gen that hardware was holding developers back. Here we are in the new generation of consoles, and we're up to our eyeballs in remasters of last gen games. HD makeovers are definitely a cash grab.

Prototype was a pretty good game but I'm surprised it's getting a remaster. I would have given the second one a try but it got pretty average reviews & I've never seen it at a decent sale price.

For a similar experience, I prefer the Infamous games.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL:

Who cares about the ratings? The original prototype was a non-stop roller coaster thrill ride.

Prototype 2 was pretty good.

inFAMOUS rocks hard too. "Cole, sweet delicious Cole. . .I am their Queen and you will be my King. . ."
