@computernoises: no the idiots who don't own a 4K tv shouldn't buy a console that's made for 4K gaming. How hard is that to understand or are you just a media idiot who just repeats what some dumb blogger wrote on yahoo or something. Phil Spencer was telling the idiot who thought he would get 4K graphics on a 1080p that he should get a 4K tv for common sense reasons

In other news a Ferrari can offer great performance but it needs wheels, tires, a transmission, and fuel to do so. This site gets worse and worse everyday.

So you can't do 1080p/ 60fps? I was literally just talking about switching to I could play Xbox w/ my friends and girlfriend, but looks like I'm sticking with PC.

4K gaming on Xbox Scorpio is only for serious gamers not for broke middle school kids.

@johnny0779: Not really.....I can buy it if I want but just because I can doesn't mean I will.... don't get me wrong , 4K gaming will be awesome BUT the GAMES are far more important than the resolution plus current resolution is far from being out-dated and old.

@Jestersmiles: The Scorpio is x86 with 6 teraflops. That's why the cross play. The Xbox is basically a PC, like a steam machine. They use One tool (Directx12) to make the game and Xbox runs Windows 10 so your just downloading the game to your PC or Scorpio. The game as far as its concerned will see no distinction and set resolution accordingly. That being said, you're wrong, it's a 4K gaming console. Deal with it. Get your head out of your ass and breathe. Everything will be alright. Don't kill yourself just because Xbox will be the better console

LMAO, seriously who thought we needed this, it's like an article saying
"You'll need this Sony hardware box and it's control devices to play these shiny discs labeled PS4"

"To get the most out of that new GPU, make sure you have a computer in which to place it"

I'm... idk what to even call it, flabbergasted?

I wont be purchasing a scorpio. My 1080P TV is just fine, if it enhanced games or made them run smoother I would be interested but that clearly does not seem to be the case.

Some dev will make a game that takes all that power and puts it into a 1080p title so all the processing is like super smooth framerate no matter what's on screen and holy shit, the stuff they can put on screen because it's "only" 1080p

I am completely confused by this announcement. I thought the point of a more powerful console was to enable games to run higher res and at 60fps, not just for the resolution bump. After all, 4K vs. 1080p on anything under a 75" panel can't even be seen anyway. What gives ???

@t1000_v2: "I thought the point of a more powerful console was to enable games to run higher res and at 60fps, not just for the resolution"

So you thought it would be used for higher res, and it is, a higher res of 4K and is supposed to deliver many games at 60 fps, might even have the option to go 1440p 60 or 4K 30, who knows, so what are you disappointed by? I am completely confused by your statement, also a 75 inch to notice 4K... way off, on a 40-50 inch it's a major difference, at 75 1080p is just not enough pixels per inch to stop the visibility of pixels, especially when gaming.

@mkeezay22:

First up, confusion is not the same as disappointment.

Secondly, you are correct re being able to resolve the difference between 1080p and 4K under 75", provided you are sitting with you nose pressed against the glass.

That's nonsense. My TV is 46" and I can see pixels on it sometimes. Watching 1080p on a small TV vs a larger one is night and day. On my old 32" I had your opinion but it doesn't take much of a size increase to start seeing where increased pixel density would be a benefit.

@Senor_Kami: just got a 65" Sony 4K HDR to replace a 65" Panasonic vierra 1080p tv. If you can't see a huge difference then you need to get your eyes checked.

@Senor_Kami: I'm not really looking for pixels when I game, I generally just pop the disk in and enjoy the game. I'm sorry you see pixels sometimes.

@t1000_v2: wow. Contradict yourself much? Typical Sony fanboy. It's 6 teraflops of power and 3 times more powerful than Neo. Don't act stupid, higher frame rate and better resolution mean everything to you fanboys and now you act like you don't care or know what it means. Idiot

I just got a Galaxy S7 and it's having a tough time playing videos on this site. I'm not tech savvy but is it my phone or this site? Every other video on every other site works fine. Any settings I can change to make it work?

@brandiesel: It's the site. Their video player sucks. I've tried on both my S7 and iPhone 6 Plus and they both have a hard time.

I was all set to rip someone a new one until I realized how many people just read the titles of articles and then repeat it as full facts. The XB1 S is capable of 4K VIDEO, the Scorpio will do 4K games as well. I can see people still being confused for the next 3 months.

wouldn't the Scorpio then just make games run faster and smoother? Without running them at 4K?
